.375 Zayne was a success, Time for the 340 Zaylea Ann

As some of you know I built a 378 Weatherby Improved for my son Zayne. We called it the 375 Zayne. This gun was truly a success and the best part is he had no idea I was doing this for him.
Now it’s my daughters turn. I’m going to build her a 340 Weatherby Improved. It in essence will be a smaller Zayne but just as potent. I’m just finishing the reamer drawing now and Dave Manson will build the reamer.
I wanted a way to honor all my children and give them something that means so much more than money. 1 of 1 rifles that bear thier names seem to be a perfect combination.
If anyone has a 340 action or rifle they would like to sell, please let me know.

Thanks...

Jayson

Doublezranch, are you building the 340 on a 378 case or the 340 case? Either way it will be one big hammer. I recently got a new 340 Weather Mark to replace a 340 I sold years ago.

Just curious...by improved...did you reduce the body taper or neck in some way?

The Zayne is a 378 Weatherby Improved. The parent case was a 378. The Zaylea Ann will be a 340 Weatherby Improved. The parent case is a 340.

I was able to take out body taper, shorten the neck, and improve the shoulder.

The 378 Weatherby holds 120 +/- 5 grains of h20. The Zayne holds 144. Best part of using Weatherby actions and brass is your getting excellent components without breaking the bank. Also the cartridge has a belt which makes life easy for the shooter. If you run out of handloads you can stop by the nearest sporting goods store and pick up a box of factory ammo. Keep your brass and now you hunted while you fireformed.
