Friend's Antelope hunt
« on: October 07, 2018, 07:05:21 AM »
Went with a friend after work yesterday. He took this Antelope.

This was the first hunt with his new long range/hunting rifle.
Custom 300 win mag, nightforce scope, ELD-X bullet. He has shot this rifle to 1000 yards.

Neither of us are long range hunters, his comfort range is farther than mine but still not considered long range now days
After a couple stalks he took the shot at 209 yards

Yes nice goat :)

We used to have hundreds of Antelope roam up and down the valley in the 1970's but they went into decline. Now we hardly see them on the ranch but do see some in the farmland . They have adapted to the food source I guess but never heard for sure why their numbers declined so drastically .

Big Muddy: the winters and dry summers both have an effect.

DW5: Yes he is very happy with both. Also in the way the ELD-X performed. That bullet is very accurate in that rifle, so if it performs well on game it's a plus, no changing loads from long range to hunting

Thanks Duane l will pass all this on to him

Very nice. I like hearing about success with the ELD-X’s. I recently switched my pig rig over to them but have yet to have a chance to try them on anything.
