Got it done in Ohio. Not with a Weatherby but a crossbow. Shoulders are too old for the compound anymore.

Congrats! Job well done. That’s a cool split brow. Also unique double colored rack. Is that stains from shedding velvet?

What Xbow/broadheads did you use? We’re you hunting from a tree stand/blind? How far was the shot and tracking job?

Congratulations, I like his tall rack. I’m trying to get my buck during archery with my Mathews bow, but not seeing much so far. They’re starting to chase now though.

Interesting... I asked cause I can’t remember seeing one like that this late after velvet either.

As far as the Ravin goes, mind sharing any thoughts you have about it? I’ve been researching the Ravins lately and am strongly considering one for next season.

I had been shooting a Barnett Predator for 3 years. It was Fast but heavy and kind of awkward (wide) which made it hard to group well and hold steady.  The narrow stance of the Ravin and the balance allow me to be a lot more steady. I was shooting 4-5 inch groups at 30 yards with the Barnett. That limited my confidence to 35 yards at best. The balance and speed of the Ravin allows me to consistently shoot 2-3 inch groups offhand at 40 yards. I am quite confident shooting at 50 yards so far after only my first season with the Ravin. I am using NAP spitfire mechanical broadheads.

Ravin R9 crossbow with NAP Spitfire mechanical broadheads. I was in a Lock on tree stand at about 24 feet up. The shot was 40 yards as ranged before the shot and measured after. It was a passthrough and only took out 1 lung. He made a death run back past my stand and went about 175 yards before expiring. I hit a little high I think due to the distance and I think he jumped the string a little. My first crossbow shot at that distance at an animal. The raven is as loud as any other crossbow which I think made the difference in the impact point from the point of aim. I will allow for that at that distance from now on and aim a little lower.

Congrats. I have only been out one time with my crossbow. Passed on a doe at 41 yards.

Where do you hunt in Pa. I am in central Pa. Clinton County. They are getting hot in Ohio after the cold snap last weekend. Have not hunted Pa. yet. Probably next weekend.

Congratulations.
Nothing is better than a Weatherby, big bore magnum, or a Colt.

I hunt in Pike County, it’s in 3D. It’s in the northeastern part of the state.

Congratulations! A lot of character in them eye-guards and two-toned to add to the character. I was thinking either genetics, or maybe the rich color of the bark on the trees he was rubbing on? Any guess on the age?

Taxidermist aged it at 4 1/2.
