Just put on layaway....my local gunstore still does this...a MK V ultra lightweight in 270 wby topped with a Leupold VX 6 illuminated. Only 15 shots. Was $2000 , I think the gun alone was worth that. Plan on using fpr deer bear amd who knows. Anybody have feedback on this rifle or caliber ?

In my not dmso humble opinion, that's the best all-around Weatherby clambering (or maybe just the best all-around chambering) for everything but the great bears, the African Big Five, and maybe a few of the largest hooved game around. For everything in North America aside from prairie dogs and the great bears, it is ideal. Mine is spectacular on white-tails, and I'd have zero qualms about taking miley's, elk, moose, or caribou with it, too.

I've had mine for 20 years. Have taken lots of deer, both muley and whitetail, three antelope, four sheep and a few coyotes. I use 140 gr Win Failsafe bullets (no longer made) over 79 gr of RL25. Velocity is 3300 fps. This is a max load so start lower. I bought 8 boxes when Win quit production, should have bought more. GJ

What dubyam said, I have owned lots of WBY's from 257 to 378 and if I could only own one it would be the 270.

Agree with the former posts! My 270 WBY is the 33rd ever made Mark V from 1958. The 270 was Roy's first magnum.  Probably the second most favorite gun I own! A S&W my dad left me is#1.

Congratulations on a fine rifle and caliber!  What Duby said is spot on.   You can't go wrong with a 270 Wby, I own one, and the other caliber I like as much as the 270 Wby is my 257 Wby.  ;D

I agree with everyone else's posts, the 270 Wby is a great caliber. My Mark V Ultralight 270 Wby is by far my favorite mule deer and sheep hunting rifle. My rifle by far prefers the 130 gr bullets, and I  have no problems using premium 130's on moose or elk.

I think this will be my all around favorite gun. With a 257,270 and 300 wby i should have it all covered. Im looking forward to the 2-14 VX 6 scope. Also the illuminated reticle looks awsome

Congratulations! I recently bought a 270 Wby Mark V Deluxe that was on consignment at my local gun store. It's sighted-in and will be high in the rotation this deer season!

Let us know how it shoots!
