« on: November 07, 2018, 10:28:33 AM »
Hi,

I'm debuting a mark v ultralight in .257 wby. , I have floated the barrel, I am going to try some loads with tips of 100 gr and 117 gr., with 7828 & maybe 4831.

Has someone sent you a SUB MOA group with ultralight

Thanks for your reply.

Welcome to the Nation. I use a powder here in Australia called AR2213sc which is sold in the US as 4831. It is a great powder for the .257 weatherby.

Welcome, what BB340 said and 7828 is also excellent and may give a little more velocity. I use the long cut as there is plenty of room in the case.

Welcome to the Nation Sergio.  My 300 Wby likes a good doze of 7828 SSC.  By any chance is your family from Nicaragua?  I want to say my parents are friends with someone with your same last name.

Hi Para45, my family is from Mexico City, currently I live in Monterrey, N.L., our last name Icaza is not very common. We are few.

My other called Hernandez is the most common in the country.

Hello.

I introduce myself, I am a Mexican hunting enthusiast, I have always liked the Weatherby rifles and the caliber .257 Wby, I have a Vanguard that was originally 30-06, change the barrel to .280 AI.

I have a custom rifle in .257 wby, in winchester action, bull barrel, very accurate, average groups of .3 "

I got an ultralight Mark V at .257 wby. this rifle was purchased in 2007 and it was unused, today I will do the first tests with reloads. I will show the results.

I'm already planning to acquire another Mark V.

Regards.

Welcome Sergio! Sounds like you are creating a nice collection of Weatherby rifles. Many others on here like the .257 as well, myself included.

What kinds of animals do you hunt?

Hello Sergio. Thanks for your reply.  I think you may have some distant relatives in Nicaragua, and I should have mentioned that it was referring to the Icaza last name.  LOL!!!!  Great selection of firearms.

Dear partners.

I did the first tests, with bullet hornady sst of 117 g and IMR7828 with 67 g. It did not work, group at 100 of 1.5 "

I will try with bullet of 100 g with 7828 and imr 4831.

If you have a recipe with 7828 for 100 g, I would appreciate it if you share it. My manuals do not handle with precision the 7828 for 100 g, I use those of Nosler, Hdy, Sierra, Lyman & those of Hadgon

I'm in a hurry, in the first week of December I'm going to look for a WT Cuoes to Chihuahua and I want to take this rifle, if I can not I'll take my Vanguar rebarreled in .280 AI

In my country, getting supplies for hand load is a problem.

The ultralight kicks. . . .

regards

Can't help with the 100g but with 110 Nosler accubond I loaded 72g of 7828 and F215 primer which delivered 3550fps with my 257 Big game master which is now called ultralite.

DWS.

Now I only shoot deer, in this area they hunt Texas style, but I prefer to hunt walking, I travel to Chihuhua and Coahuila, we climb the hills and camp. Something traditional you know, bonfires, barbecues, cold and wind.

All deer hunted is a trophy. . . We pay with blood, sweat and smiles.
