who doesn't use a bore brush when cleaning rifle

I don't see any reason why you couldn't use a nylon bore brush. I know a guy I went to school with who was a Marine scout/sniper who said they used copper brushes all the time. What do you guys think ?

I use nylon brushes simply because copper brushes will leave copper residue that shows up on the patch. You will never get a "clean" patch.

Copper brushes will destroy a barrel over time. I'm pretty sure that after 20-30 million strokes you will see wear. What's worse is that I shoot "copper" jacketed bullets all of the time! I guess I should switch to wood or maybe plastic bullets since I know that after 3-4,000 rounds my barrel will be shot. So use nylon brushes and nylon bullets if you can find them.

If you use the right solvent, you will only need a nylon bore brush if you accidentally stick your muzzle in the mud. Or, I guess if you purposefully stuck it in the mud, youd need one, also.

Grab a bottle of BoreTech Eliminator and your brushes will gather dust.

I never use a brush. Just a patch. Come clean and shoot good

Caution this thread is a rabbit hole.  Been there, done that. BoreTech, brush and patch until all the crap is gone and you're good.

I use a Cooper brush with Sweets 7.62 solvent for the first scrub. Then push a few clean patches through. Then I soak a patch with sweets and scrub until it gets a little foamy. I leave it in the bore for at least ten minutes after each scrub and then patch it until the come out clean. Been doing this with every rifle I have had for over 30 years and it hasn’t hurt any gun I’ve owned. And they all still shoot better than I can.
