I have been told these ctgs are both based off the 300 H&H ? I have a bit of 270wby brass for my gun that's on lay away and was wondering if I can form 7mmwby out of it. I am new to reloading, just asking the question

Yes it can be done but there are things to consider so do your research on resizing and use the proper tools and then decide if it's worth it.

That's what I woud do and I have all the stuff to do the resizing, I just don't like going up in size even though it's only .007. Just me.. guy's do it all the time.

It can be done. But as long as there is available 7mm Weatherby brass around it is not worth the hassle and having the wrong head stamped brass for your gun to keep up with.

Terminator, good point about the headstamp. Think I'll forget that idea. Thanks for all the advice everyone

If you have a 270 and a 7mm it's not a good idea to upsize the 270 to 7mm.Good way to have a bad accident.

You can use 7mm Rem. Magnum brass. Just run threw die for sizing. A little short in neck but does work

I don't see any hassle in necking up brass, especially only 0.007".

I started necking up cases many years ago (1978) when I made .30 Gibbs cases from .30-06.  I had to expand the case necks up to .35 caliber, then size them in a .30 Gibbs size die to make a false shoulder for the case to headspace on.

With .375 RUM brass being hard to get, I made a long taper neck expanding plug.  With just a little Imperial size wax on the mouth of a case, I easily expand 7 mm RUM and .300 RUM cases up to .375.  No annealing needed.

The only issue that I see with this process is the new case is not what is stamped on the head of the case.  I always sort my loads by case headstamp.   I haven't tested loads with mixed headstamps, and I haven't checked the volumes of the necked up cases.

If you shop around, some loaded ammo is cheaper than the brass alone. If it was cheaper to resize, I would be doing it. I loaded some of the tougher to find brass today, once fired and a bargain (325WSM)! IF you do this, up or down sizing,  I color code the brass with a felt tip marker to avoid the dangers.  :)
