New products for 2019?

New products for 2019?
« on: January 05, 2019, 05:12:52 PM »
I haven’t seen Weatherby’s new products yet, but I haven’t been overwhelmed by the new 2019 products I’ve seen so far.

Winchester just expanded their XPR line and are now chambering the Model 70 in a 6.5mm Creedmoor. Yawn. Kimber and Remington...meh.

Hope something amazing comes out of the SHOT show...

Nothing is better than a Weatherby, big bore magnum, or a Colt.

+4, I'm really hoping for a 7-378 Weatherby.

The 7-378 would be a speed demon for sure but I don't know how bullets would hold up to that speed if they're not a solid bullet such as the Barnes bullets are.  It could be a case of too much of a good thing but I can be wrong about that.  My hope would be for a .224 Weatherby Magnum, that would be a great surprise.

There is always that area of diminishing returns on the massive cases... but something about displacement does come to mind.  ;D

Nevertheless, the most sensible introduction would in my opinion be to reintroduce the .375 Weatherby Magnum across the MkV range for the medium weight hunting rifles (i.e. not the ULW or AM). This is probably the most useful cartridge for where I live.

I shoot cases with a belt because I feel the other cartridges need to pull their trousers up.

Then again I would Love to see the 35 Whelen introduced in the Vanguard line, seems like a no brainer to me.

I would love to see them bring out a bigger hitter than the .460... Something like the .500 A-Square but of course with the Weatherby shoulder and Weatherby name tag, .500 Weatherby Magnum....

The biggest caliber I've shot is the .50 B.M.G. and that was a lot of fun but if Weatherby came out with a .500 Magnum or bigger I'd have to get one.  I wonder what case they'd base it off that would work in a bolt action rifle, now you have me thinking about this.

Haha good to hear I've got your brain ticking over. Let us know what you come up with and we will all put in a request to Weatherby  :)

I just think that now the .505 Gibbs and .500 Jeffery being available in several commercially made rifles then Weatherby has an obligation to step up and try to beat those rounds or at least match their velocity and power....  :D

I also would like to see a 7mm-378. In addition, I would really dig an affordable-ish re-release of the 224 Wby mini Mark V.

Also, I always welcome more wood stock options! Less plastic, more wood please!  :)
