Very nice, although I also would like to see more wood stocks. The gorgeous stocks are what got me hooked on Weatherby many years ago. The 700's and 70's of that time were nice, but no comparison to a Weatherby.
Come and take it.

I would be interested to know sales ofsynthetic vs. wood and Vanguard vs MkV.

I wonder if the MkV and the Weatherby Mag chamberings are not like the big M BMW's. They are brand builders and get the guys into the showroom where they buy a 1 or 3 series.

In SA I think Vanguard far outsells MkV and I see very few new rifles in Weatherby calibres and almost no ammo at all. Even brass can be tough to get.

I just hope Weatherby doesn't join the race to the bottom with some of the cheap rubbish many sell now. Albeit that some of those really shoot!

Weatherby always seemed to manage to maintain a level of quality which I hope remains... Even if things have changed a bit already.
I shoot cases with a belt because I feel the other cartridges need to pull their trousers up.

Agree, there's no mistaking the beautiful stock of a Weatherby Deluxe. Throw one over you shoulder when heading out for a hunt and everybody comments and I've yet to have anyone call mine anything other than a Weatherby. That said, I do firmly believe that there is a time and place for a stainless action in a hand laid glass stock (not a molded plastic one, I see no place for those). Sticky inserts in strategic places are a must for me and a smooth wide fore end with a skid plate would be great when shooting off rocks. It should also have a gentle taper back to the action so I can slide it back and forth to change holdover rather than fiddling with my scope. The Weatherby First Lite and Subalpine's are pretty close to what I'd want in an all weather/all conditions type rifle. brushed Stainless or Cerakote as long as it isn't black.

What do they want for an entry fee???  Is it that steep?

Now there is heaps of what I want! One thing though Weatherby, Where has all the nice timber stocked rifles gone? Weatherby was once known as having THE nicest wood stocked rifles. But all I seen were a few nice ones then just synthetic after synthetic! It looked like a tupperware stall I am sorry to say. Very dissapointed  :(

Man I completely agree. At least they do have some wood-stocked options on display. Walk into a Cabelas or Bass Pro and look behind the gun counter. It's a sea of plastic with an occasional brown spec here and there.

It's a little confusing but between my neighbors and I we figured it out. If you are a current member, your membership gets you in. Memberships are 65.00 per year with other options for longer term memberships. However, if you want to go to the show and have never been a member, the cost for persons who have not been members for the past 12 months is 105.00. They do that so that if you were a member but your membership lapsed you can just pay the 65.00 and renew. However, if you've never been a member, they seem to see it as you becoming a member only to attend the convention and for that the fee is 105.00. I suspect this is an attempt keep persons of ill intent from disrupting the convention. I get it and don't hold it against them. If my health improves maybe I'll become a member but not right now.

That does seem a little steep for someone just wanting to attend the trade show. I guess it is a way to keep an exclusive club exclusive. ???

Mind you after my spiel about wooden and synthetic stocks I agree with HDH about bringing back a Stainless action and barreled rifle with a nice synthetic or laminated stock.

I'll second this request!  I have a stainless 7mm Wby, and love how simple it is to take care of that rifle.  ;D ;D

Yes Oscar I have a stainless in .270 Wby. I don't go much on the plastic fantastic black tupperware stock on them. So one with a stock like whats on the ultralight or the Outfitter would be nice. I replaced mine with a grey laminates one from Boyds.
