In search of Weatherby Mark V stock
« on: January 13, 2019, 05:10:23 PM »
I acquired a right handed, Mark V glossy blue barreled receiver and need a stock. I prefer a wood stock, but for a good price I will buy a composite stock. The barrel is the #2 contour. The factory trigger is included. Please send me your recommendations for where to get a stock.
Thank you.

I've got 3 Vanguard stocks but no Mark V's at the moment. The last one I had made was a Boyd's platinum. I had them dress it like a Weatherby but it does not have a raised comb. It still welds very nicely though. https://www.boydsgunstocks.com/ They took about 6 weeks to build it but I had a lot of fancy checkering done which takes more time. They are very, very good to deal with.

I've seen Mark V Deluxe stocks on Gunbroker many times.  The prices vary as does the level of figure in the wood.

What are the prices and specs (caliber, barrel contour, and where was it made) on them?

No telling what cals they came off of.I have some 1 and 2 barrel contours.8 or 9 of these are for Varmintmasters.I do have a couple German stocks.Pricing depends on condition and how much figure there is.Refinned would be around 550 shipped. One that has some dings, but pretty good shape I'd like to be 200 plus or more.I might could scrounge up 2 brand new replacement stocks from Weatherby, but they would be $700.00.I believe Weatherby is over $800.00 now plus shipping. Not for sure.15 years ago they were $770 for a stock.

I think your pretty close with the prices Weatherby charges for their stocks. I checked into it a while back and that's about what they told me. I went with the Boyd's and kept a couple of hundred in my pocket. They are in no way comparable to a Deluxe stock but they are still very nice. I also think your prices for what you have are fair and I would certainly buy one if I felt the need to stay as close to original as I could.
