I've still hunted some of the leases I've been on, but in So. Tx. with the thick brush and cactus (that you can only see over from an elevated blind) makes it hard to know what you might be getting into. From an elevated blind you'd swear you can see everything, but you'd be surprised how deer use the brush cover and color to hide their movement right in front of you. Still hunting I've done has been in the hill country and have had some success culling does and hogs, but not any bucks. It's fun because even though you're moving slow (using whatever cover is available) the idea that your walking in their living space so to speak keeps it interesting cause you never know what could happen.
