Pulled the trigger on a Kimber 84L in 280 Ackley. I have a 280 Ackley custom build on Ruger but heavy. 70 years old need lighter rifle. We drew Oregon High Desert hunt this year. We did good 4 years ago maybe again. It's a hair tag.

stepson has the montana x3 99 and loves it - I have one I traded for customized off a montana action, hart barrel with spiral flutted and coated sniper gray.

Haven't shot mine yet looking forward to it - great handling rifle.

I bet it will serve your needs well - congrats;

Congratulations. That is a great cartridge.

The Kimbers are really light and by all reports the new ones shoot well.

I have a wood stocked 338 Win Mag 8400 with a 26" barrel which is a touch over 7lbs. It also shoots 1 MOA and sometimes much better. The wood stocked 84L is a touch over 6 lbs and will make a great hunting rifle.

I also really like the stock design.

I shoot cases with a belt because I feel the other cartridges need to pull their trousers up.

It is a great cartridge. I have an older Ruger M77 Mark I rechambered/rebarreled to a 280 Ackley in 2003. One of my favorite rifles.

Mine is weight-wise probably between your rifles.

Comes very close to the 7mm Rem Mag with a 25” barrel and has the added benefit of holding 5 cartridges in the magazine.
