Need another Mark V

Need another Mark V

Ok.  So it has been a bit over a year since my last confession...I mean my last Weatherby.  The fever has started and I find myself reading and watching all I can because I just have to have another!

Have a Vangaurd Deluxe 7mm Rem, Mark V .257 WBY  Deluxe, and a Mark 5 .300 WBY Sporter.  Now I want an Accumark.  Not sure what to get and looking for suggestions.   Thinking another .300 so I don't have to worry so much that I might scratch my gun when I head on some Western hunts.  I know I have it covered but...I want another!

Suggestions?  I do reload, but some brass looks hard to come by...

Out west for what in particular?

Love my accumarks - from looking 7mm, 270 or 6.5-300 would make a nice addition?

Hard to deny 300 pretty versatile gun for that, 7mm wby would also be a great choice. Others are feasible, but those two would fit your bill.

Anything ammo and brass related right now is getting hard to find, grab it when you can. I have 7mm and 300 in accumark both well all my accumarks are extremely accurate. Lots of decent deals on gunbroker for lightly used guns if you don't mind second hand. Buds guns pretty hard to beat there prices if they have one;

Ammo will be more available for 300

I was in a similar situation and split the difference with a 7mm Weatherby.
With handloads, it moves a 150 grain Swift Scirocco II at over 3330fps and that is probably the hottest load it can take. I found a lesser load at 3240ish is perfect for accuracy, and bang-flop results on a big old buck north of Dodge City.
The S2 Vanguard 257 Wby made a 3230fps with 120gn Partitions. Later, I found better accuracy with 100gn Scirocco IIs, and much high velocity.
Of all the gin joints in all the towns in all the world, she walks into mine.

Scirocco fan myself - I stick primarily to the 160's selection in my 7's all mine do very well with factory ammo. 257 I've ventured off into loads with the 100 grainers, shoot 130's in several 6.5's bullets do what they are supposed to.

Accumark; Elk and mule deer:
340 Weatherby, 225 TTSX or the 230 ELD-X or the 185 TTSX. Any of these will do the job nicely.
You have everything smaller covered.

Yes I am with Mike and cast a vote for you to get a .340 Wby. As Mike said, you have all the smaller stuff covered. So why not step it up a notch and get a big caliber? Then you can cover ALL animals in North America. Plus the .340 is just a darn great caliber. Lots of horsepower with comfortable recoil.

Thanks.  I will review the .340 but expect it will be a bit more than I want.

Well ordered another .300 and a VX-3i 4.5-14 x 50mm, CDS with side focus.  Now the wait begins!

300 is a hard to beat caliber - chambered in an accumark i'm sure you will be thrilled with your decision!

Congratulations. Let us know how the net package shoots.
I shoot cases with a belt because I feel the other cartridges need to pull their trousers up.
