HECS
« on: October 17, 2020, 07:29:52 AM »
After seeing all of the infomercials abut HECS, I purchased a complete HECS outfit. Do any of you have any experience with HECS. If so, let me know about it. Hopefully, I can get in an Elk hunt before going to Alaska and will use it for that as well as for my planned Alaska Brown Bear hunt. So, I would like to hear from anyone who has any experience with HECS.
Thanks.

I have the HECS suit and have used it on a few hunts. The one where it was most noticeable was a hunt in Oregon. I have to hunt with guides now and when we got to within 300 yards we started stalking closer with no more cover, with the guide about 20 feet in front. The animal we were after was watching the guide and ignoring me. There were others around him and they were doing the same. It was after we got completely settled about 150 yards out that I noticed I forgot my hearing protection and walked back to the vehicle to get it. The animal did not take his eyes off the guide and I walked slowly to the vehicle and back completely ignored by all the others. I got settled with my Bog Pod and after the shot he was down and the others completely ignored me as I stood and walked toward them until I was within 20 yards and then they just walked away unconcerned. The guide I use the most uses HECS suits as well.

Great to know. Thank you for responding. You never know whether or not what is on TV is real or artificial.

I read the reviews. Are they all in warm weather areas?

A friend here in GA bought the set.  He has used it, and he spot and stalk.  He came within 20-25 yds of a doe, and she could tell there was something there, but stayed and didn't run.  My friend said that the doe acted confused and kept looking and moving her head trying to figured out what he was.  He swears by it now.

A lot of mixed reviews about them, mentioned this on another site about 4 years ago. It ended up with line your hat or toque with Alcan foil and a good laugh.
Only way a person would know for sure is get one and use if not to expensive.
