Ejecting empties using bolt handle

Ejecting empties using bolt handle

Manually pulling back on the bolt handle of my SA459 TR 20 ga will not throw empty cases away from the ejection port.  Generally they will stovepipe sideways and have to be plucked out by hand.

The same action with full cartridges will fling them 6' - 8' away.

I wrote Weatherby and they sent me a copy of the break-in procedure but didn't address my question.

The shotgun is not completely broken in yet but I don't see this as a break-in issue.

Is this normal?

OK, I think I answered my own question...I have a Mossberg SA-20 and thought I would see if that acts the same way...it does.  The empties will either stovepipe or fall on the ground at my feet, full rounds eject normally.

It does seem odd though...anyone know why that is?

Compassion for animals is intimately connected with goodness of character....
and it may be confidently asserted that he who is cruel to animals,
cannot be a good man.

Welcome to the nation! The light loads might be the problem?   :)
