.375 Weatherby

I had a good time at the range yesterday. Tested some loads and sighted in my Mark V Euromark in .375 Wby mag, scope is a Swarovski 3-12x42 in Tally lightweight one piece rings and bases. I then had all metal Cerakoted matt black.
I am using Australian made projectiles called Atomic 29's. They are an all copper monolithic projectile. These ones are in 300 grains. Powder is Australian made AR2208 (sold in the US as Varget)and this 3 shot group was with 78 grains of powder for 2750 fps.
I tested up to the book max of 80 grains however the group size was larger and velocity not much faster. I will stick with this load for my upcoming water buffalo and scrub bull hunt in 4 weeks.

 8)  nice group Brett and that's pretty good speed, it's a good 250 fps over most 375 H&H loads. My 375 Wby shoots varget and 4064 well, but I get a little better results with H414 and IMR 4350.

Has anyone on here used imr4451 or imr4955? I just picked up a 375wby for an up coming Cape buffalo hunt and wanting to get her some loads worked up for a 300gr swift A frame. Load data seems hard to come by.

IMR powders is very hard to find down under, in fact it is probably impossible to find. I checked some of my reloading manuals and could find no data for the powders you want to use. There was data for IMR4064 and 4320 though.

I have not tried any of those powders either, but hodgdon has load data listed for the 375 H&H 300 gr swft frames using 4451. Since the 375 Wby is just and improved 375 H&H, you can use a mid range load of the 375 H&H data, and use that for your 375 Wby starting load, and work up slowly.  Or you can call Hodgdon.  I tried IMR 4831 and H450, accurate but didn't get full speed.

I think you have found the sweet spot for those Atomic 29s. Good luck.

Yep I think so. I could go up a few grains more but the groups opened up. I still have another powder I am going to try in the next few days to see how it performs. But this load will do me just fine.
