Black bear season opens in Washington. 300 weatherby gets the call, 200 grain partition. No bait no dogs, predator calls and huckleberry patches will be key. Just a morning hunt as the heat wave surges. Finally all is right in my world.

Well Sunday was uneventful other than elk and deer sightings along with grouse and snow shoe rabbits. Temps were 58 at 5 am. Monday evening went up again and only elk and deer. Fresh sign is there so I know the bears are around berries are plentiful. Sat and Sunday high temps 70ís to low 80. Will be there again looking. Now if the rains and smoke would clear that would help. Just a matter of time.

Got them on camera in the daytime. Not yet, had a crack at a jet black on Saturday but he crossed the national park boundary. There is a huge wildfire in most of my areas 80k acres and burning. Need rain badly. Maybe a sign to check new areas.
