Weatherby Mark V Classic .270 Weatherby Magnum

Weatherby Mark V Classic .270 Weatherby Magnum
« on: August 21, 2021, 08:15:40 AM »
I have a Mark V Classic made in 1993.
This seems to be an obscure model since I have only found two websites showing a prior sale.
The gun has a beautiful oil rubbed satin stock finish. I have not been able to find any website that can assist in valuating the gun. Does anyone know of a site that may have that info? I tried the Blue Book of Gun Values but could not find a "Classic" model. Any help on what the rifle is valued at would be appreciated.
Thanks!

It looks like a twin of my Classic Mark in 300 Weatherby. They weren't big sellers and the model was dropped after a short run.  I have no real idea on value. Welcome to the nation!

Ha! You had me pulling out my receipt. I bought mine from a guy in southwest Virginia 9 years ago for $875. The recoil of the 300 Wby.  was too much for him. He had less than a box through it.  Yea, I got it cheap for a Mark V of any kind. I paid a bit more for my 1958  32nd ever made Mark V.

No, it's the very first year of the Mark V, 1958.  It's the 32nd one ever made. Somebody had it rechambered to 270Wby from a 300 WBY with a German made barrel. The work was done by Weatherby . They kept no records of shop work in those days. It's a 1 in 12 twist ,limiting it to lighter bullets.110 TSX and 130gr. A-Frame work pretty well.

You can't rechamber a 300 Weatherby to 270 weatherby the 270 is a smaller diameter it had to be rebarreled something isn't right

Yup, that's why I said it was done with a German made barrel. The rifle itself was U S made.  Read the please note at the bottom!   ;D

I bought a classic NIB 240 WBY a couple of years ago for 1200 bucks out the door. Nice rifle, still haven't shot it. It's a 9 lug 240 too.
