If you are considering having to shoot a bear off you or partner, I think I'd stick to slugs. Buckshot would be effective, but you risk hitting someone unintended, IMO.

If I was being attacked by a bear,I wouldn't give a rat's ass what my hunting buddy shot it with.

You still take a chance with the slugs deflecting off bone and going who knows where.
Trust your neighbor, but brand your cattle.

With 5 chokes, one of them should accommodate both 00 ought buck and slugs to hold an effective pattern. As long as you and your partner aren't seperated while you're stalking by more the 7 to 10 yards.
BTW, both of you should practice as much with your sidearms as you do with the AR shotgun in case the man holding the shotgun is the one who gets attacked. (you just never know)

I have been shooting and breaking it in a fair amount. It is fun to shoot - comes back with some spirit with 3" magnums, but still fun.

I replaced the low-quality iron sights with better fiberoptic sights and mounted an EOTech holographic sight. This is my first holographic sight I've ever owned and on this shotgun...IT IS AWESOME!!!

Agreed on the E O Tech!  They eat batteries, don't leave them in all the time.

I ordered and installed an EXPS2. I liked the quick release feature and the buttons on the side, but I didn’t need anything related to night vision compatibility.
