.223 loads for fox and Bobcat ?

The 225win FMJ load for turkeys was a reduced load. I believe l used H-4895, but was back in the 80’s l my be wrong on the powder.
Not sure with a FMJ you need the reduced load. Maybe if you hit heavy bone

I have IMR 4198 wish I could use it.
But the more I read about using the 52 gr. SMK the more I don't think I have to worrie about it.
Guy shoots A 220 swift with very little damage on a Bobcat. Many shot with a 22-250 say they never exit. From 223 I read 1 1/2" exit hole.
I just don't know what to believe.  So I will just go with the 3000 fps and see what happens.
I hope I get a chance with my shotgun.  I'm good to 50 yards with 4 shot turkey loads.

Big muddy they were from different blogs. But my guess is the faster bullets totally blow up
The slower 223 stays together.  I am guessing.
But I asked myself the same question.

Could it be that bullets for .223 class are designed to "Blow Up" at lower velocities while bullets designed for .22-250 class velocities are designed stronger and tend to go through smaller animals without expanding. Granted, I'm just guessing and have no real world experience to back this up.

Years ago there were cartridge adapters that allowed the use of .22 long rifle or .22 mag for cheap practice. If you could one of those for a .22 mag it might solve your problems.

Just read this on the v max. I have read they fragment faster then ballistic tip. But I have seen so many pics of blown up cats. Just don't know what to believe.

I got this guy when I was chasing prairie dogs with my Savage 9317 BVSS in the background. The little 17 HMR punches way above its weight. After seeing what it can do to a sod poodle I think it might be ideal for fox and bobcats.

Took this Bobcat with a 6mm creedmore, 108 grain ELD Match at around 70 yards. Behind the shoulder, so only ribs, little to no pelt damage
A Bobcat is pretty small, so l would think it would be hard to find the perfect bullet for all shots. Hitting and missing shoulder bones would make a huge difference l would think.

I've shoot vld's with my 204 on fox, doesn't do terrible nothing like vmax probably because not all of the bullet comes out is my suspicion. They were very accurate as well -

for my 22-250's i do prefer shooting more premium rounds as i can also deer and hog hunt with them as well.

I agree no perfect caliber for all situations.
I have considered the 17 HMR for just Fox and Bobcat. And at 100 yards or less pretty good choice. But for me I am not A big time varmint hunter. I just want 1 Bobcat for A rug and will gladly take any coyote anytime.  So what ever gun is in my hand I want to be able to handle what ever comes to call. But as discussed.  There is no perfect Rifle and caliber.
I agree 224 king hard to believe no fur damage with such velocity.  But I will look into the v max some more.
And nice cat Mike.  Glad yours didn't blow up.
I also belive with who ever said don't hit bone.
I think that helps more than anything else.
