Nation:

I wanted to let you know that tomorrow we will be launching a new rifle action.  Be sure to check out our website over coffee in the morning to see what we've been up to.  I am quite excited about this new platform and believe it will be a great addition to our Vanguard and Mark V actions that we have had for all these years.  It will fit in between those two actions in regard to price point, and offer some compatibility with aftermarket accessories that will appeal to many people.

I know that many on the Nation appreciate the fine wood, unique design of the Mark V and high velocity Weatherby cartridges.  This new rifle launch does not mean that we will stop designing, building or marketing new things in our existing rifle and cartridge lines.  It simply means we are building upon our past successes and reaching into a new space, much like my grandfather did when he started this company.

I truly am proud of what our team has been able to accomplish since moving to Wyoming 4 years ago.  This new launch is a testament to the hard work by many here in Sheridan.

All the best,

Adam Weatherby

Awesome! Excited to see it!

I noticed there was a small leak of this product launch on the internet about 3-4 weeks ago, but you did good job of pulling it back!  ;)

This new rifle looks like it fits in the extreme light weight hunting category. I like it.
YouTube has a nice peek at the rifle.

I saw the teaser video, but have not yet found anything on the Weatherby website this morning. This is interesting and I am excited to see this action. Adam. I am glad the move to Wyoming has panned out so well - we all knew it would. For nearly two years, I was wondering when the company would vacate California, then finally, the announcement came. The writing was on the wall that California will tax and regulate any firearms companies out of business eventually. Good luck for even better things in the future.
Come and take it.

It's interesting following the industry tastes and "standards" if you will.

These big long poles, with big optics and "cans" - these rigs people are toting around cost tons of money. My son tells me all the time, man you should put a can on that?

Ok call me old, i'm thinking cans were intended to shoot subsonic ammo (which just isn't my thing) now we put them on everything to make it like we are using it as a means hearing protection? Aren't the little orange things you stuff in your ears cheaper? ;) If your a range guy, ok?

LOL - to each is own! Cool looking rig, i appreciate and respect Weatherby keeping up with this industry that moves all over the place and I appreciate you always keeping us informed even though we are old relics like fancy wooden stocks! LOL

This was really to add humor, I totally respect manufacturers job to meet customer demand.

Nice rig, and I'm sure it has it's following and its purpose.  Unfortunately, not for me.  Maybe I'm getting old but give me a MK-V or Vanguard in wood and call it a day.  This is a bit too tacticulo for my taste.

Nope doesn't appeal to me either. As Para said it is too tacticool for me. I love the feel and warmth of a nice piece of timber on there. Don't get me wrong I still have a lot of synthetic rifles as they are better in the wet weather. I must congratulate Adam and his team for coming up with a new rifle design. It should sit well with todays crop of shooters who like this stuff. Well done guys.

I like it, it should appeal to shooters and hunters alike. One thing though, I guess once you start with the add on's, you void the warranty?

I like the new and the wood classics. Like the faster twist rate on the 243, and the 240 Weatherby. Also see it’s chambered in the 7mm PRC. Wonder if that means no 7mm RPM in the future. Now l have to look at the ballistics between a 240 and the 6mm creedmore. If it’s worth it to make the switch.

I bet it's between 400 and 500fps Mike.Makes a 300 yard gun a 500 yard gun in energy.If you are shooting coyotes the 240 is just flatter.If you're shooting Whitetails,Antelope and Muleys there's a big difference between the two.

Finally had a good look. First off, I think this rifle may sell decently with the action being compatible with 700 aftermarket stuff. Although I am a dyed-in-the-wool wood stock guy (think MK-V Deluxe), I do like some of the new stuff - however, as much as I wanted to like this one, I just can't get into these "boat paddle" stock designs that seem to be the thing now. Even with strong traditional tastes, I think some current stuff is very good - I like modular rifles (I love the Ruger Precision I got recently) and would rather have a Vanguard Modular Chassis (out of production, though) than this one. The company certainly has a sizable investment in this and given that, I hope it's successful regardless of my taste in rifles.
Come and take it.
