Maybe in 30 years they might be viable! Pretty funny! At least he didn't cover it up.

I drive an F-150 but I wouldn't buy one of those if they were half price (or any battery-powered vehicle). Electrics are a joke. Hydrogen may have some future potential.
Come and take it.

I think they would be ok in an urban area where your commute to/from work is < 1 hour. It might make sense in that application.

As far as traveling long distances, especially in cold weather or areas with mountains…we’re a LONG WAY from electric vehicle implementation.

Those are the cold, hard facts…

But not with a sticker price of $105.000.00.  I'm sure you can buy something better and still have change.  ;D

The real killer is the replacement cost for the batteries. I could probably get away with an EV most of the time. My 2011 Ford Ranger I bought new has just 21K miles.  ;D

$105K? Ha! Ha! Ahhhh…no….that isn’t happening from my perspective either.  They will need to at or below the cost of combustion engine vehicles.

Batteries will need to last AT LEAST 10 years and be below 10% of the vehicle replacement cost.

Have been pricing new pickups. Many are in the 90-100,000 range. These are 3/4- or 1 ton, diesel

I have a 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 3/4 ton gasoline engine (I don’t tow often or really heavy trailers). While I’ll say it wasn’t cheap, I can also say it wasn’t close to $90K.

I can’t believe how much vehicles have gone up. Regardless…I wouldn’t spend anywhere near that for an electric vehicle.

I live in Wyoming…from a practical standpoint, we’ll probably be the very last state to adopt electric vehicles. It’s about 2 hours to anywhere, very few chargers, fairly vertical roads, and icy/snowy roads don’t lend themselves to electric vehicles…especially if you’re stranded and being able to stay somewhat warm in your vehicle might mean your survival.

Yes, 60-70K for a gas pick up in some nasty colors is what's in stock here now!

I’m sure depending on the trim you can get up there, but with a little bit of shopping you can find one about 30-35K less.  The positive thing about a diesel/gas truck is that your truck will  have some value after you’ve driven the truck for 10 years.  Try that with an EV anything, if it’s still running after 10 years.   ;D ;D

There is no way I will buy an electric or hybred vehicle period.  we don't have the infrastructure, we don't have the batteries, we don't have the technology yet to make it viable, you can't tow with them for any distance before charging and where are you going to charge your vehicle in the sticks or bad weather conditions , are you going to call triple  A  to get a tow when you should have known better,  oh yea it's going to be cheaper,  say's who ?    What are you going to do without semi tractors, farming equipment, ships at sea, airplanes,  power plants,  emergency generators for hospitals and institutions,  chain saws , snow blowers,  you name it.  These people need to move to mars.  a hundred years from now maybe they will invent  alternatives, but right I don't know where the common sense went.

yep diesel 3/4 ton pickups are high as a giraffes a$$ with any kind of premium trim options. I do see some negotiating going on which indicates the market is reacting to the interest rates as well. Hope supply and demand get back in line.

As far as EV's i'm sure most of the tech/design work is being subsidized by our tax dollar as this appears to be the only gov push, i bet you can guess where all the politicians have stock investments? :)

The only thing we will learn from this administration is if your going to run a major fraud sellout scheme don't put your entitled cokehead son in charge to complain about paying your bills and burn everyone!

The range estimates are a joke too. They say 300 miles, however that's a BIG maybe and when the driver weighs 80 pounds (with no passengers), no luggage or cargo, no headwinds or crosswinds, level smooth roads, no A/C or heat on, daytime driving (no lights on), and driving 50 MPH. Then, just maybe close to the number. Reality is half that range (and with no towing anything, ever). There's a sucker born every minute, as PT Barnum famously said. A guy I know rented a Tesla for a few days and he said the batteries ran down so fast it was a royal pain in the ass trying to keep a reasonable charge in the stupid thing.
