hi ,new to forum .im trying to decide between 300 and 257wby vanguard synthetic for deer and hogs .ive owned a mkv in 257 ,messed up and traded it for another gun had regrets ever since.will i lose to much velocity with shorter barrel in either caliber?

I don't see how you could possibly go wrong with either...

I own a SS Vanguard Laminate in .257 Weatherby and my dad has a Vanguard Synthetic in .300 Weatherby.  Both are great shooters and neither suffers from significant velocity loss because of the 24" barrel.
