Fortunate to have late Fathers 1954 270 Weatherby Magnum Deluxe, Mauser action, that was sent to Bloomingdales Department Store NYC.  Also picked up a 1957 300 Weatherby Magnum Deluxe, Mauser action - production rifle right before Mark V went into production.  Its cool to know this Company's history. Both tack shooters. 270 is 26" barrel, 300 is 24".

Today, I proudly own a Mark V Deluxe 300 WBY Mag, made in USA, Atascadero, CA. Nothing shoots flatter....

You have a 54 Mauser in 30-06 that was done by Weatherby?   I guess I didn't realize they did them in non magnums back then.

I inherited a 1948. 300 that has seen many a Midnight Sun in Alaska. and shows it and a 1952 30-06 both of these are pre MK V and have been heavily used. The still shoot great but I retired them for newer MK Vs over the years...Pictures to follow later.

Yes we are still waiting on those pictures TJ??

The 1954 is in 270 not 30-06.  It's awesome to shoot and  both the 54 and 57 have had minimal rounds shot thru it. I've shot more with the USA 300 Mark V than both the 54 and 57 combined. Great rifles. All have papers from Weatherby as well.

I see there are a lot of older Weatherbys out there.  I just purchased a 1968 Weatherby MarkV Deluxe 30.06  Ser # P31###.  I have dated this one to 1968.  The second year that Weatherby manufactured the 30.06.  This is was also manufactured in West Germany.

I've got a 1952 model 22-250 with double set triggers, a chrome bore, 26 inch barrel, and a J Unertl fixed 12X in target blocks. That's 13 years before the ammo was sold over the counter. Also have a 1949 or 50 model round nose in 270 Winchester. I just got a letter of authenticity back on a 26 inch, 220 Rocket that was built in 1957. I'm working on a letter of authenticity of a 220 Swift that I think is 54 or 55 model. If you can't tell by my handle here, I like the 22 cal. Weatherby's.

By the way. That 57 model 220 Rocket shoots 5/8ths inch groups while fire forming brass out of 220 Swift ammo. So far I haven't reloaded any of the brass yet,but have data from an old Weatherby manual listing near 4400 FPS loads for a 50 grain pill.

First year of the .22 deluxe (made in Italy).  I'm now 71 years old, so I guess this is quite a while ago.  Grandkids now shoot it, so it's still in the family.  I'm guessing early 60's).

i currently own 2...    I have a first year German made mark V in .300 that does not have the fluted bolt.
I also have a Japanese made .340.. I was made in the mid 80's for a Weatherby Distributor as a sales promotion item.. It has the fancy wood stock  26" barrel and the Weatherby Custom engraved floor plate..  It also has a Weatherby  4 power scope setting on top of it ( there for looks i assume)     this rifle has never been fired. I picked it up at an auction when the Distributor died..

My 300 WBY isn't  old like "beginning of Weatherby firearms" old. It's just old for the "return to the USA" Weatherbys as it has an SB prefix serial number under 100.
