I like the Accubonds in my 270. I used Partitions on a Montana Antelope hunt, and they did not perform. I won't use Partitions again because of the problems with the last batch. There is a veritable plethora of good bullets. Remington, etc. You can't go wrong with any of them, just be sure to match the bullet to the game.

not really crazy about either bullet...

tipped Triple shock X !!!

high BC, stays together, best of both worlds IMO.

tough and aerodynamic!

Newbee:I don't use the 180 but the TTSX 130 in my 300 shoot very accurate as well as the 100 grain TTSX in my 257.

The nosler patition in 115 in .257 is a killing machine great bullet not as fast as the 100 but still smoking about 3200 to 3300.

Hharlan:I believe the ttsx only comes in 80 and 100 in the 257.I think they have a 115 in the tsx though.

The 115 would  probly be as good as the nosler. You know Ive loaded nosler for years very acc. in my 2506. Hard to change my gun likes 120's throws the 117 and 115 little high and wild I guess Iam loading a little hot.

The reason that Barnes doesn't make a heavier 25 caliber bullet is because it gets to long and may have stabilizing issues.  It also will take up case capacity that will show lower velocities compared to other popular lead core bullets.

These are two drawbacks that will prevent Barnes from producing the really heavy for caliber bullets but this also improves the performance of their lighter for caliber bullets.

If they brought back the old original line you would have heavies for everything.
Round nose bullets are shorter for any given weight and don't need as much twist in a barrel to fly right.  One of he things I have always wondered about barnes is wth all those belts machined nito those bullets what's the real world BC for those things? It has to effect how a bullet moves through the air. I know it decreases the surface area and helps keep pressure and fouling down but what's it do to the external ballistics?

Chip:  Hornady still makes a 25 cal 117 round nose and there are probably a few others out here. Looking at the old barnes x-bt bullets 25 cal 100 gr bc of .420 is somewhat in appearance (no doubt some changes),  to the tsx-bt with a bc of .336 and the ttsx-bt bc of .357 and compared to a swift scirocco II bc of.429 just for illustration purposes.  It would seem there is a distinct difference.  Yes the relief cuts do in fact reduce fouling because of contact surface area, but it also increases overall surface area for the air to act upon.  Just my guess but makes sense to me.   I'm not sure how they come up with their BC's whether it's on an Oehler system with dual screens or if they had access to a Weibel  type doppler rader system which I would doubt, but you never know.  Maybe that got an invite to a gov'n test facility to run their tests ?    Ron
