Favorite brand of handgun(s) and model

If I could only have one handgun, it would probably be my Sig P229 Equinox... 40S&W.  I guess that makes it my favorite.

Colt Delta Elite stainless 10mm slightly enhanced,  S & W 686 6 " full race gun, S & W 10 heavy bbl full bowmar slightly enhanced,  the last 2 smiths will shoot the centers out of qtrs from a rest @ 25 yds all day long using cast magma 135 gr 9 mm rn molds sized .358 in 38 spec cases,  S & W 637 airweight belly gun, Ruger super blackhawk in 44 mag using heavy 300 and 320 gr lbt and ssk molds linotype,  and my new favorite Springfield Armory xd service model in 45 acp very accurate for a stock gun.

I think you need one of each.   I like them all and have owned and shot almost all.  There's nothing, however, like the feel of a 4" Nickel Python!

1911 fan here.
I've got both a 4" and a 5" in Kimber CDP II, they are nice lightweight 45's.
I also had a 4" built using a Caspian frame and slide, Ed Brown barrel, VZ grips, can't remember all the manufactures parts used; suffice it to say they were top shelf. Had it Ceracoated and tweaked around with it until it bested my Kimber's and now it's my winter carry piece.

Last year I was trying to sell an old 870 express 20 ga and a guy contacted me and asked if I wanted to trade for a pistol. He told me it was a 1911 chambered in 45 acp. anyways long story short I made the trade and ended up with a Remington Rand US military, and a check of the serial number shows that it was 1 of 1000 issued to the Sprinfield Armory January 1945. it is in 95% condition and shoots like a brand new one. it is by far my favorite!!!

My favorite revolver, and, by far, my favorite handgun overall: Freedom Arms model 83 Premier Grade:



[My recently-retired engineer/scientist father tried to politely change the subject when I explained to him on the phone about a year ago that, unlike any other revolver I had ever held, my then-new Model 83 Premier Grade F.A. in .454 Casull had zero play in the cylinder-none. He obviously didn't believe me, but did not want to argue about it, so he started casually talking about other things. When he came to visit a few months later, he sat on the couch for almost an hour in silence looking it over in amazment and almost disbelief. It truly is a work of art and engineering. It's the closest firearm to a Swiss watch I have ever shot or even held. After firing a couple of hundred full-bore 454 loads through it, there is still zero play in the cylinder--nada.]

Favorite full-sized auto: Glock G20

Favorite compact auto: Sig 232

Favorite really compact auto: Kel-Tec 380 (cheap but is barely bigger than a set of keys [and flatter]; has a 2.7" barrel; has gone boom everytime I have pulled the trigger over the last 8 years; won't hit the side of a barn out past 15 yds, but it's a close-in convenience gun).

all are very good choices  but my fav is the taurus tracker in 44 mag it's small enought to conseal carry and big enough caliber to use as a back -up gun on the deer lease

If not my t/c contender with multiple barrels then it would be my Ruger blackhawk Bisley 44 mag , Barrel cut down from 7.5'' to 6'' got this gun in 1970, first (new) gun ever.

S & W model 686 .357 4".  Most accurate pistol I've shot.  Next, S & W model 36 .38 2" snubbie.  It's my shooter -accurate as he** to 15 yards - don't even try to hit anything at 25 yards with it - better to throw rocks!  Also like my Beretta Cougar 9mm.  Gotta remember the Browning Buckmark .22 - cheap to shoot and dead accurate.  Excellent to practice with for a few hundred rounds.
