This past weekened I was in Bakersfield, California on a Quail hunt. I was there for 3 days, and hunted day and night. The day before quail season starts I went scouting, within the first 10 minutes a cubby of 35+ is right in front of me I could already tell it's going to be a good hunt. My weapon of choice for this hunt was my Weatherby athena over and under custom maid with my initials ingraived in it 20 gauge. So 5:30 in the morning we set out and saw a few cubby's but waited for the big group. 5 of us walk throughout the fields and we get to the end and saw 35+ cubby. One of the guys shot his limit in one shot and they all start flying up, everyone drops at least 2. After the first day everyone's sore from walking up and down mountains but had a great day shooting 46 quail. The next day we didn't shoot as many but we walked home with quit a bit of quail.
