Have to pick your favorite of the 3, so what's your favorite and why?

.257 Wby.
.270 Wby.
7mm Wby.

I actually think I'm going to pick the .270weatherby!
I recently noticed it was slightly flatter than the .257wby!?!?  at least when comparing 130 vs 100.

This is like throwing blood in the water for me and Dubyam.
I own a 257 Vanguard Sporter and a 7mmwby Deluxe and have harvested nothing but one shot kills with both of them. They are both fantastically accurate, beautiful and deadly calibers. Both extremely versatile, the 257 an awesome varmint caliber up to large deer, while the 7mmwby will destroy a coyote its real genre is antelope size up to moose, elk and African plains game. I love them both immensely, but my nod would go to the 7mmwby because it was my fathers and now mine, which keeps him with me when I'm in the field.

I own all 3 calibers and love them all. I will have to go with the 270 WM because the first Weatherby I was ever gifted by my Grandfather was of that caliber and that is all I shot until I was about 35 years old. It still feels just right slung over my shoulder while out in the field.  Curt

I can't pick!

Just got a .257 Vanguard- handsome rifle that I haven't been able to shoot yet.

I can't really consider it an all arounder and I'm very seriously considering a 7mmWby as an all arounder if not the 300Wby.

A .270Wby? probably would go with that if I lived in the L48.

I did have all three in Stainless Mark V's. I traded the 270. I really like my 257 Mag. but if forced to pick one it would be the 7MM Weatherby Mag. because it is a better cartridge for larger game. ;D

Here I am, just swimming along checking out the posts on a few forums, and BAM!  CHUMLINE!

James is right about one thing - all three are good chamberings.  Everyone on this board knows my choice is the 270Wby.  It is, as Husky said, a bit flatter than the 257.  It's also a bit flatter than the 7mm, and packs enough punch for any non-dangerous game here, or Africa, or elsewhere.  The only problem my 270Wby has is the loose nut behind the trigger as far as kills are concerned.  Beyond that, you won't find a finer all around rifle for non-dangerous game, on any continent, in my opinion.  You can go down to 100gr bullets for yotes, and up to 150-160gr for anything big enough to warrant it.  I've had good results with the 130gr E-Tip, and a friend has taken two moose, and several elk with that same bullet in his 270.

There's almost no difference in killing power between them all, and none between the 270 and 7mm, but for whatever reason the 270Wby is flatter by a smidge than either the smaller or bigger siblings.  It truly is ideal.

7mm

That should handle everything on the planet that walks. And no overlap there for the most part.  And yea Duby I could go 270 just as easy and never look back lol.

I'm the odd man out here since I don't  have a 270WM or a 7mm WM, but the day isn't over yet.

I have a S2 257 Wby Mag and it's my favorite rifle. I haven't had it nearly as long as some, but for a long time I've wanted a 257 Roy and now that I have it my accuracy and shootability wishes have been met, and then some.

My 17 year old son reminds me all the time what rifles and what calibers I said I would like to have someday. The 270 Wby Mag is among them, even though I have a great 300 Wby Mag in the safe right now.  Perhaps if I would have stuck with the bidding at an auction last April I would have the South Gate 270 Wby Mag and its original stock, and then my favorite rifle might be different. I keep hoping to see that rifle again at the auctions, but hope is not a plan.

Try a 270 Bee you won't go back !
Build on a 700 and 26" tube to get you to nail driver mode quickest.
I have witnessed some amazing shots on Deer and Elk even before I got my hands
on one, now own three. Easy loading for 130s and 140s but 150s are very sweet Elk pills.
For building loads 150 Sierras BTs shoot very sweet for final Elk loads in 150s consider Swifts,
Noslers, Burgers. Just my opinion but utimate is nosler brass, V560, Fed 215 primer, and 150 A-Frame.

Depends on the task at hand, but in terms of versatility with medium/large game, I would choose the 7mm Weatherby.

I own them all, but if I could keep only one, it would be the 7mm Weatherby.

Since the original post was in 2012, we better add the 6.5-300 to it.

In the last 5 years, I have sold and traded several WBY calibers. Right now, my favorite is my 1958 270WBY Deluxe. I fear damaging it hunting, so it is relegated to target range use.  It is a 1 in 12 twist rate, so it only stabilizes 130gr. and lighter bullets. My hunting Mark V is a 300 WBY classic mark.   :)
