I saw on Remington's web site that they will offer a 700 series in .257 Weatherby Magnum.  I wonder if that will mean there's another source of ammo???

I emailed remington with that exact question and they answered back they will be offering a cartridge with 115 grain bullets, one place on the internet i've found shows the ammo but no price and no availability so time will tell.

If you go on Cabelas.com and check out their core locked ammunition, they have a load for .300 weatherby at $59.95 a box.  If that is any indication you will have another source but it will still be at realitivly the same price?

If the money will be the same, might as well get the genuine article....

MidwayUSA.com is showing the .257WBY Remington load in a 115gr PSP CoreLokt bullet for $47.99. They sell Weatherby brand ammo ( Hornady SP) for $45.99/box.

I'd rather get the real deal for less.

A friend of mine put a 7mm Wby Mag into the elk I had already hit twice.  He was just standing there staggering before going down.  I was unimpressed by the Hornady SP as it came apart and was in little pieces.  It also did not penetrate through like the 2 Trophy Bonded Bear Claw's I shot did.  I think those Weatherby Hornady loads are ok for deer, but I think a sturdy bonded core bullet is a must for elk at Weatherby mag velocities.
