257 Mark V for Varmint?

Any suggestions on loads for varmint hunting using a .257 Mark V Sporter? Reloading information is preferred, but also interested in commercially produced cartridges.

This yote fell to the 257.WNMR with 24 inch barrel.I use 75 grain Hornady V Max with 70 grains of H4350.Rem 9 1/2 primers.A fast accurate load.70 grains is listed as max load so you might want to work up to that.Worked well in a 26 inch barrel also.Good luck and welcome to the Nation.

All i can say is that while the 110gr Accubond is a wonderfull bullet, it tore the crap out if a bobcat a few years ago. Instead of a rug, i wound up with more of an exotic toilet seat cover....lol ..... Best of luck

Imr 4350 and a Sierra 75 gr hp,  very accurate but does leave a big hole.

@terminator Thanks for the info and welcome. I've been whitetail hunting for the past 24 years, about half of which used a 270 Wby Mark V, 7 bucks last 6 years with 7 bullets. Hoping the 257 will be the rifle for varmint.

@zonie @colt army Helpful info as well. Smaller bullets with long range accuracy is what I'm after. I've taken pronghorn and whitetail with my 270 Wby Mark V at 400+, but am new to varmint hunting...

@terminator  I'll give it a try, thank you, just getting into reloading this year...

As for whitetail, I'm switching to a 300 Wby Mark V stainless I just picked up a couple months ago, have taken it to the range twice, both times had 3 shot groups at least touching circumference of a quarter at 100 yds with Wby factory ammo. Planning to reload for the 300 as well...

I have a pet load for the 300 Wby also.I like fast and flat shooting light for caliber bullets,so I use Barnes bullets that dont blow up.130 grain Barnes TTsx and 85.5 grains of H4350.Bout 3685 fps with the following group.
Sounds like your 300 is a shooter.Reloading will shrink those groups.
