Fired the 140 a-frames today and they grouped better (sub moa) then the 127s. I also tried the 130 scirocco's and they were a definite no go, with a 4" vertical string at a 100 yards. I also had a misfire with the 130s, a primer actually collapsed.

Doug, I'd say you had an empty primer there, may have been hollowed out. I've seen Remington primers do that.

Mike  I've never had that happen before, I was especially surprised since it was the Weatherby factory ammo.  Your rifle looks very sharp, the Zeiss scope looks very streamlined on it. Not sure about the RZ600 reticle, I've sighted mine in about 2.5" high at 100,  and once I find a 300 yard range I should be dead on.

I agree, it's surprising a Weatherby round had this problem but anything can happen. Just be glad it didn't happen as you were squeezing off on your next big buck. Hopefully that was a one in a million bad primer.

Using the 140g Partitions mine is shooting just over 1" @ 100yds using 83 grains of WC867 powder at 3358fps. I dropped down to 82 grains and it's shooting under 1" (.8) @ 3341fps. This is with the brake removed and a thread protector installed (hunting mode).
Nice looking rifle and it sounds like you got a shooter on your hands.

This ULW just de-throned my Browning A-Bolt 7 mag as my best shooter. Just took it to the local 500 yard range, shot sub MOA at 200,300 and 500 yards. There is a 12" gong target (steel plate) at the 500 yard line, the range guy told me to try to hit it. I dialed the Zeiss to 10 power, settled the 500 yard crosshair, took a deep breath, let it out and squeezed the trigger. After the gong stopped spinning around from the hit the range guy with spotting scope jerked his head up and said "My God, you can't do much better than that." I looked through the spotting scope and saw that the 6.5 center punched the gong. I guess it's ready for Idaho's elk & mule deer next month. Totally impressed. Hand loaded with 140g Partitions, 82 grains of WC867 military powder, Federal 215 primers.

Nothing better then having the utmost confidence in your rifle before a hunting trip, hope the elk and mule deer cooperate. Good luck and safe travels, Octobers not far away!

Sounds like you are ready! I am hoping for 300 or less. Though I have shot well beyond that range I feel better with that range. That is unless its a crow or coyote. I let them fly then.

Absolutely nothing wrong with that group, the rifle, load, or the shooter!  ;D

The rifle and load are right but I'm not too sure about the shooter, he may be a few bricks short of a full load. ???

That's a GREAT group for sure.  Don't worry about those bricks, if they didn't care about it on the Island we sure as hell don't need them.    :D
Nothing is better than a Weatherby, big bore magnum, or a Colt.
