Gentlemen, I hate it that you're having trouble with your triggers; but it appears I'm in the minority on this topic. I was at the range this morning, preparing for a pronghorn hunt 9/13, and placed six holes from the 100 yard mark, which could be covered with a half dollar, if I could find one. This was with the Sporter in .243; my son in law were at the range this past Friday, and he bested me with his Vanguard synthetic in .270. Needless to say, both he and I are headed for New Mexico with a good load of confidence in our Vanguards.
Sounds like Ed has made a pretty good offer to everyone with this problem, though. Just another indication that this is a great company-

First off,i LOVE my Mark 5,but after shooting my friends savage with the accu-trigger i got a little jealous. How can such an UGLY gun have a GREAT trigger? A new trigger group for the Mark V would be nice too.

The vanguard rifle is a great investment. The triggers are a little undesirable but with a trip to the smith and a few springs and adjustments later they can be turned into a great trigger. My smith charged me $45 and I have a crisp, clean, and a hare over 2lb trigger. Its perfect. I have found the industry standard when it comes to triggers on all makes and manufacturers to be less than par. Any rifle I purchase now goes right to my smith for a trigger job!

I put a Timney in my new Vanguard SS .22-250 before firing a shot. Highly recommended, no gunsmith needed. It also gives you the benefit of three position safety.
The Vanguard is hardly the worst trigger out there - Remington's X unit in my new XCR is horrendous. The Savage Accutrigger in my new 116 is good, but not in the same league as a Timney.
