CCI 250 primers vs. Federal 215M
« on: April 14, 2013, 01:09:13 PM »
Greetings all,
I normally reload my .270 WBY MAG using Federal 215M Primers. I can't find any, however I have access to CCI 250 Large rifle magnum primers. Has anybody used the CCI or compared them to Fed 215's. Any problems with ignition using Reloader 22 or VVN560?

Thanks in advance!  Good shooting
Bennett

As long as you drop back and work up to be sure you're not over pressure, I don't believe you'll notice a huge difference.  I know guys who swear by one brand other the other.  I'm using Fed215s, but the reason I'm using them is that's what I got the best deal on a number of years ago, and I bought in bulk.  I also have CCI, Winchester, and Remington primers on my shelf, both magnum and standard, and use them with no issues in other chamberings.

I stay away from cci primers.  I hit a bad batch and was getting misfires averaging about 12 per hundred.  Cost my dad a moose.  Been 100% federal since then and have had no problems.
