DW, my next set up will have a scope (no batteries needed), and a micro red dot on a 45 degree mount.  Out of all the ones I listed that has a decent battery life are the Aimpoint, C-more & Vortex, in that order.  I don't know what it is with the Eo-Tech that even while power down, the battery still being used.  The bad thing about red dots is that the battery will die in the most inopportune time.  Luckily my failures have been during shooting matches, and not a real life situation.  LOL!!!!  I hope this helps.

An illuminated micro red dot?

The Trijicon RMR Dual Illuminated is also a battery free or should it be batteryless option.
I shoot cases with a belt because I feel the other cartridges need to pull their trousers up.

Can you get away from using a riser if it's  mounted on a 45 degree angle?

Yes, because it will not be my primary sight.  This is how it will look.  If it was my primary sight, I believe the current mount will be to low, and will need a riser.

You probably know this, but Warne makes a mount that has the 45 degree offset integral to the mount for the scope. Some guys are great with that setup, personally I don't like the idea of twisting the rifle back and forth.

Yes, that is exactly what I'm planning on using.
