It is a .323 diameter I believe that is what the S in 8x68s is designate. Your right about the 8mm in the US it never really got off the ground. My gunsmith wanted to take it to Africa a few years back he said it is somewhat popular there and you can get ammo for it there if needed. Not sure what part of Africa he was talking about.
I bought it from an Old buddy of mine years ago because nobody ever heard of a Weatherby in that caliber back then, I thought it was pretty cool back then and still do.

I have a 325 WSM that fires a .323 bullet. The 220gr woodleigh is one of the best along with the 220 gr A-Frame.  ;D

That's a really nice looking rifle you got. It checks a lot of cool-factor boxes for me. Enjoy!

I've been mildly interesting in adding a 325 WSM to my 8mm collection. Maybe if I come across a deal one day I can't turn down, I'll end up with one.

Tough to find ammo or brass for the 325 WSM!   :)

It's tough to find brass and ammo for many excellent calibers that didn't achieve popularity.

LOVE my 270 Wby its lights out with a Swarovski scope. It's an expensive package that at my age of 64 I think I finally deserve. I travel with it and hunt everything but grizzly with it. Then the 300 comes out. The 270"s travel partner is a Vanguard.  257 also topped with a Swarovski both gorgeous wood in a pelican case. I stuff a soft case in my luggage for around camp. I own 29 Weatherby's and my 270 Mark V Wby mag out shoots them all the next most accurate is a vanguard 257 Wby mag and then it's a toss-up between a Mark V 300 or a Mark V 240.
It's been fun collecting them and the stories behind the guns.
Good luck this season to all.

Love this - plain and simple you love what you love and do what you do isn't it great! :) I hope I'm stomping around getting rocked by one of my Weatherby's for many years to come to my friend! Good luck to you as well;

The 270 Weatherby Magnum is a fine cartridge. I owned one in a Mark V Stainless years ago. I currently own a Mark V Stainless in 7 MM Weatherby Magnum.  I sold the 270 and still have the 7 MM. Performance IMO was too close to justify having both and the 7 MM has a wider range of bullet styles and weights to choose from.

I have a 270wby in the accumark and I love that gun I'm shooting a 140gr and it's shooting well with those. I did just order 130gr for coyotes so we shall see how they shoot.

The .270 Weatherby Magnum was the favorite Weatherby cartridge for Ed Weatherby, who obviously could have any Weatherby he wanted.  I love mine for hunting medium game.

I too thought Ed was a big 270 Weatherby fan and Roy was partial to the 257?
