Title: Forum Admin Issues and Information
Post by: cbotkins on April 09, 2024, 10:49:06 AM
Hey all...

In an effort to get all admin topics under one roof, I'm going to create this sticky post here. This will stay at the top of the "Around the Campfire" discussion board. Any and all admin/tech issues please post here so we can address them as we get time and they come up.

Please be patient with us as we still have our regular 9-5's we need to accomplish AND this is a learning experience for all of us (managing the forum and keeping it running smoothly). If it's been a few days and no one has addressed your issue, please reach out to Weatherby Customer Service (preferably via email/contact form). That's the quickest way to get our attention and if you do it through email/contact we can log it in the system and tag other folks as needed.

Thanks again for all your patience and understanding.

Ok, I *think* I got the photo/attachment thing sorted out. You can upload up to a 5mb file per attachment. With a max attachment per post size as 10mb. I also have the max number of attachments per post set to 10. The max height and width of the thumbnails for the attachment is 250x300. Also, I added a "Smush. It!" mod to help reduce file sizes on attachments when you upload them.

Let's play around with that and let me know if that seems to be working ok for you guys.

Again thank you for your time and effort in keeping this forum up and running smoothly. We know this site isn't as popular as Facebook for getting info and releasing new products on but to those of us that use it much prefer it to Facebook. A lot of the guys that are on here don't have Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.

Thought I would throw this in just for kicks.

How did this get into the country?

Cool box of German made ammo. The box ends don't open. You get your ammo from the top of the box.The whole top of th box folds open just like the end of the box of ammo does here in the US.

May not be German made, but made for the German and European market.

Thank you for the attention given to the forum, it is much appreciated. 8)   Especially in the area of photo posting, which had plagued many of us for years.

I wonder if Adam would consider having a major scope manufacturer like Leupold, Burris, Vortex etc make a run of scopes with a gloss finish to be sold under the Weatherby logo just like Roy did in the early days? It  would go a long way to keep ugly scopes off beautiful rifles.

If you click their profiles they claim to be in the US but list home in foreign countries. WTF is going on?

I just checked on a post from April where I mentioned we had 2531 members and now we have gained over 500 members in two months.

The same thing happened with the old Cabela's forum before it was shut down. A lot of messages were being relayed back and forth on dead threads, some with Chinese characters, others were coded with letters and numbers. Seeing this happen with the Weatherby Nation is concerning and something the Moderators and Admins should definitely take interest in and look into.

EDIT: It would also be a good idea to not add anyone to your buddy list that you don't know until this is sorted out...Yes, this includes me.

I don’t check in very often, but when I do there usually seems to be more spam than real posts! Hopefully there’s some solutions to that problem!!! Soon!

Hey guys, we got a nasty gram from our web host regarding all the bot traffic. I put some additional measures in place to try and mitigate all the spam. There should now be some additional requirements on sign up and there is a minimum post count you need to qualify for in order to post. There is also a couple of questions you'll need to answer when creating a new account, etc. They are all WBY related questions so every one here should pass.  ;)

I'll keep my eyes on things. Thanks guys!

Thank you so much. I have had to stop visiting other forums because of this same problem. This is the only forum I even visit anymore because of all the great people/regulars on here that really care.

I think the ballistics for the 22CM are cool - little need for one personally and less for another 25 caliber. I do see where it will draw much attention. Everything (or most things) now seem to be geared towards long range - everyone has a different idea of what that is. I have a stable of guns that i would feel confident with sub 600 yards and I can count the number on one hand that I would possibly be put in a situation (meaning I would have to put myself in that situation) to make a shot like that. It's not going to be needed very often in 99 percent of the hunting I do.

I'm with you - a 25RPM with fast twist would be pretty cool.

Found it to be interesting - I do not blame gun manufacturers for pushing towards demand, the wolfs are howling about rifle availability what drew me to the discussion was a thread on facebook asking about the 307. Then you get the tire kickers who whine about "low end" rifles. Same guys who feel they are underpaid but everyone else works for 10 bucks a hour! LOL - but will turn around and put a supressor that runs over the cost of the rifle!  8)

Where is it? I can promise you it wasn't on purpose :)

American Made - 80 Years of the Weatherby Legacy. That was a very nice film. It’s great to be a part of a firearms company (through rifle ownership and in spirit) whose firearms are made in the USA and has the strength of character to openly say it is genuinely faith based. Wishing Adam and the Weatherby family and its family of employees, continued success for generations to come.
