Title: 6MM ARC
Post by: Big Muddy rancher on February 08, 2026, 03:09:23 PM
 Saw a little Ruger American Ranch in the Hardware store in Plentywood the other day.

Neat little truck gun 16.5 inch barrel. AR type mag. Threaded barrel;

The fellow showed me the cartridge, long bullet, about the length of a .223 case but a little bigger around.

I could see where it would probably be a flat shooting son of a gun,

Living where I do and not reloading i seem to lean towards the old standby's >223,.243, 270, ect.
The ones you can pick up at the local coop

The latest and greatest is usually a marketing ploy.  ;D

Big Muddy rancher :  I think it would make a nice little truck gun Why Not,  if I didn't already have a 6.5 Grendel in an AR I would have went with the 6mm ARC,  or possibly a 350 legend.

ballistically it's a cool little round which so are many others. If i could buy it right and know that ammo is going to be available but not locally so i'd find what it likes order 5-6 boxes of ammo or 10 whatever you think fits your bill and roll with it. Would be a more effective tote/truck gun than a 223 that much better than 243?

All depends on how sweet the sugar is in my jar lol - i just bought a 740 rem very right in 6mm rem for the pickup driving around on ranches i inspect for real estate.

Good score on the 740 in 6mm txaggie. The 6mm Remington is one of my favorite calibers. Have had many rifles in 6mm over the years but they have come and gone. I'm currently without but on the lookout to add one again. Hope yours is a shooter.

yes so far she runs pretty good - shot for the first time last weekend and it did well for me being in a hurry with factory hornady ammo. It's used but not abused,

yes i have the same love for the 6's - i think i have 3-4 6mm's in the stable currently along with 240's always a cool round to shoot around here;
