I bought a 5panel Lasermark for a retirement gift to myself; its a safe queen. I bought 5 pair of white cotton gloves to handle it with if I do decide to show it off. The stock is to pretty to bang around the woods with, and I have 4 other wbys with compostie stocks for actual hunting. On the Wby fan page on fbook there is quite a few guys that hunt with their lazermark. It was interesting when I went to the Wby factory opening in June they told me all the fancy wood stocks are from Italy by Beretta; this was in  in response to my question of will they ever make Crown Customs again and can I order a LH one.

Rifles / Re: 270 with a 24 or 26" barrel
« on: December 07, 2019, 09:03:43 PM »
My 270 wins are all 24"; most are Vanguards and shoot sub moa. My 270roys are all 26".  If Im spending on a Wby I want the longest bbl they offer per caliber. One 270roy 26" shoots 0.5moa to 600y. The other 26" is much newer and only shoots 1.0-1.2 moa but its improving each outing. I wouldnt worry about two extra inches in your deer stand. good luck.

My new LH ULW 270 Wby Mag 26" shoots 3.25" groups at 425y off the bench w 130g SP Wby ammo. I only have less than a 40 rounds thru it. Im quite sure groups will shrink. I use a Simms barrel donut, which I found was a huge help on my Fibremark(it shoots 3.25 at 600y).

Marks Outdoors in Alabama has one . It's a Left hand Mark V Fibermark with 26". Google them.

SADLY, IT'S A 24" BARREL. Got emails from them today. I asked them for the sn prefix and they sent me a sn, so it either didnt have a prefix, which I doubt,  or theyre not Wby people. Moving on...

Rifles / LH .270 wby mag 26"
« on: June 10, 2017, 07:05:00 AM »
Have spent last 3 years looking for a LH .270 Wby Mag MK5 with a 26" barrel. They seemingly dont exist. Or are rarer than the proverbial hens teeth. Very odd. Most have seen have a 24" bbl which is counter to western shooting and would do me no good.

I have a  26" RH one that I shoot LH out of necessity.

Actually what we want is 50 state Constitutional Carry. You should never have to pay a CCW fee ( really another  tax) to do what is constitutionally protected.  13 states and PR are already Constitutional Carry. 37 more to go.

After carrying a Sav LH 110 .264 Win Mag for 30 yrs I decided I was old enough for a Wby. Tooke me another 20 yrs to get my first one.  I began with 3 Vanguard s1's in .270 Win. All were .25 to .5moa.  I sold them and bought a sstl Vanguard .338 Win Mag about 5y ago, which I have not fired. Yet. 2 yrs ago I decided I needed a flat shooting rifle again since my .264 was long gone so I found a used 1996ish Saco Fibremark .270 Wby Mag 26" on gunbroker and bought it. I topped it with a 4-16x42 High Country duplex scope and I was off and running.  It is far and away the best rifle I ever owned. Having had about 65 different rifles in my life, I have to say that none of them even came close to any of the 5 Wbys in fit, finish, and accuracy. So I tell noobs now that "you can waste your money and life on lesser rifles, or save up the extra 100 200 300 and get yourself a Weatherby". Nuff said

Rifles / Re: Slip on De-resonator for Weatherby Mark V Delux?
« on: February 02, 2017, 08:34:40 PM »
I put one on my Fibremark .270 Wby Mag 26" barrel. It helps me shoot 1.88 groups at 425y using Wby 130gr sp ammo. Prior to installing it I was shooting 3" groups at 425. I installed the ugly donut according to directions for positioning and have not moved it. I shot 600y with my Fibremark but it wasn't for group,  just two shots to qualify. One day soon Ill shoot it at 600 for group and see if I can get a 2 or 3" group.

Ammo / Re: black box ammo
« on: January 01, 2017, 08:19:16 AM »
Was shooting 130g ammo a few days ago at 29deg f. I had to break the black holders to ge the ammo out. I don't hate much in life at my age,  but I think whoever the packaging designer was for this black box stuff is, they should be fired and banned and deported. Today I'm opening al my new black boxes and breaking out all the ammo and putting it in the old boxes.

On a happier note I shot a 1.5" group at 300 yards with it that day. Once I broke it out. Next goal is a 1" group at 300 or 425 with it.

Ammo / Re: Creedmoor.. What or who is it?
« on: January 01, 2017, 07:45:31 AM »
Name comes from Creedmoor, Long Island, NY. Was a 1000 yard range there long long ago before the urbanites took over. I'm sure the 6.5 was designed for long range precision shooting. But its not a Weatherby. And wont be.
