Shotguns / Re: 32” weatherby orion

I bought the Orion sporting and absolutely love it. Action was a little stiff but after the first 200 rounds it's smooth. I have put about 1500 rounds through it and it just gets better.

Around the Campfire (General Discussion) / Re: Corona
« on: March 30, 2020, 06:22:36 PM »
Just returned from south Africa, my company won't allow me to return to work until 14 days.   My wife had to return after seven days symptom free (she works for the govt.).  When we left there was talk about toilet paper shortages, when we came back we were one of the last planes from johannesberg to atlanta. It was a shock as we were in the bush we didn't have internet as we traveled to Kruger park we started getting updates from home.

Our outfitter had a large van, we also did the night and sunset tours in the parks trucks. Three days was more than I needed but the wife and daughter loved it (their both photo geeks).  The family wants to go again but we'll hunt more and the the wife and daughter want about $8000 worth of lenses.

We were in limpopo province about 45mins away from louis trichardt. We had a great outfitter Lianga Safaris. We spent 5 days hunting and three days in kruger national park. When we left people were hoarding toilet paper by the time we were returning the country was going crazy. We found out that we were the second to last plane to fly direct back to the USA.

African / South Africa ammunition regulations
« on: March 10, 2020, 04:05:57 PM »
Checking with TSA I can pack my ammo and rifles together. But I’m not clear on south africa policy. Some things I see say ammo must be packed separately.  Anyone else from the USA, who has hunted South Africa, what did you do? I was thinking of bringing a small pelican case to stow the ammo. What say you?

Thanks for the welcomes,
This is my first Weatherby rifle I have the scope mounted and will sighted it in this coming weekend.
I live and Hunt  in Colorado mostly Elk and Mule deer.
I will be taking a trip in eleven months to Limpopo South Africa with the wife and kids going after wildebeest, gemsbok, spring buck  and warthog (more if time permits). We are also spending a few days in Krueger national park for photography.

Just picked up the vanguard safari in 300WBY last month. Its the best looking vanguard in my opinion. It will pull double duty for african plains game and Rocky Mountain Elk.
