Google says Roy invented the 7mm in 1944, my info says your rifle is a 1951.  Good Luck!

Give Jim a call at westhuntstocks.com his # 360-835-9660, he does the finest stock work on Weatherbys.

A few weeks ago the subject of recoil came up.I complained that my Backcountry TI in a 300 wby kicked really bad, since then I have received a Banish 30 gold suppressor. It has a muzzle brake and silencer all in one. It is awesome, tamed down my 300 so I can shoot it comfortably and my wife thought i was shooting a 22. The noise reduction is 36db, they are expensive, but I think well worth it for me. I would recommend Silencer Central if you have any questions. They are great to work with friendly and really know there products.

I shot a spike elk at 650 yards, it dropped like a rock. I use 160 grain Nosler Accubond bullets in my 7mm.

My friend had a Nikon come apart on the inside from his 340.

My 300 wby in the Backcountry TI is the most punishing rifle I have ever shot. It's weight is 7.4 pounds with a vx5hd 4x20. I can shoot my 340 all day long with no muzzle brake, the 300 has a factory brake.

I bought mine at Wilco farm supply store.

My Barnes book is using a 24" barrel on the test rifle, that alone is over a 100 f.p.s. if you have a 26" barrel on your rifle.

I get 3145 fps with90 gr. accurate 3100 using Nosler 225 partion bullets. My rifle has a 26" barrel as well. I have shot this same load since 1994 with no pressure problems and several elk in the freezer. Books are only a guide line and every gun is a little different.

My Nosler book says that I.M.R. 7828 is the most accurate powder tested,115grain with a 400 grain bullet.

I have been there, it is very nice, but they don't allow factory tours...bummer...but it was still fun to go there and order a rifle....backcountry TI

I live pretty close to Jim at western hunter classics, he has done three stocks for me. His work is awesome, probably the best there is in my opinion.

I get it...own one Weatherby, you want to own them all. I think in the 338 cal., the 340 is the best bang for the buck. It shoots almost as fast and flat with 20+ grains less powder. I have been looking at a 378, so who am i to judge...good luck with your choice.

I bought my 340 Lazermark in 1994 and it came without a brake or threads.
