My recent hunt for a new over-under led me to acquiring this Weatherby Orion. I have to confess that until this one crossed my path and I began to do my research, I did not have Weatherby shotguns on my radar (my bad). Made in Japan roll mark and an 'EN' prefix serial would seem to point to this being early 90s production, and the reviews for these SKB-produced shotguns appear to be overall very good, so I'm looking forward to trying it out. It's in great condition for its age.

I have one question off the top (likely not the last question I'll have for you knowledgeable folks here). This shotgun came with a simple plastic "Weatherby"- marked buttplate. All the photos I've seen have shown these Orions with a grey honeycombed recoil pad. What was the factory original configuration? Photo attached. Receiver is blue, with no engraving.
