Around the Campfire (General Discussion) / 270 Weatherby Mag

Can someone tell me why Weatherby does not make a rifle in 270 mag in a Vanguard? Some folks can't afford a 3-4K rifle but would love to have this caliber!

Around the Campfire (General Discussion) / Archery moose hunt

8 of our bear group, me included, are heading to Northern Ontario tomorrow for a 6-day archery moose hunt in Nakina. Nakina is located at the bush line of Northern Ontario. For those that don't know the location, it's at the end of highways.
From Southern Ontario, it will be an 18-hour drive. My truck with 4 are leaving tomorrow morning and plan to drive 10-12 hours and stay overnight and then make the 8-hour drive to camp Sunday morning. The other truck plan to leave Sunday at 3:00 am and drive straight through.
This is our first early season archery hunt, we usually late season rifle hunt in the extreme cold and snow, so looking forward to the more comfortable temps.
The rut should be on so looking forward to putting my calling skills to use, hope I don't mess that up.
I will post when I get back

I am heading to Burks Falls Ontario for our annual black bear hunt tomorrow morning for 5 days
We have been baiting for a few weeks now and have good bears on the trail cams.
I am packing my Excalibur G340 Matrix Crossbow and shooting 125 grain G5 Striker V2 Crossbow broadheads again this year, took a nice 200 lb bear last year with it. Most of our group are using rifles. Everything from a 35 Whelan, 270 WSM to 30.06

I will post pictures when I get back....

As mentioned, we are heading to the Thunder Bay area for a Moose hunt this coming Saturday. We are thinking of making the 18 hour drive straight thru so we can get to an extra day of hunting rather than stopping over before heading to camp the following day.
The weather will make that decision for us. If the driving is good we may push on but if we get a snow storm like last year we will stay over at Hearst again.
Last year was our first year hunting this area and on the last day of our hunt we finally found where they were bedding...of course.
The forecast looks good, not extremely cold but forecasting snow which is good for finding tracks. Sure hope I can post pictures of a bull, cow or calf for your folks.

Thanks Terry

Heading to Rondeau Bay with my two boys tomorrow morning for the opener. Suppose to rain most of the morning so see how that goes.
The boys say there are a bunch of local geese, some wood ducks and teal hanging around. Always good to get back in the duck blind.

The post about your favorite Weatherby cartridge got me thinking.
Why doesn't Weatherby make the 270 Mag in a less expensive rifle like the Vanguard?

Thanks folks

Why does this calibre not get much love?
I do not contribute much to the forum but read lots of the threads and comments and hardly see any love for the .270 Mag.
If I am reading the ballistics right it looks like a do all calibre including open plains and big game animals.

Covid-19 the great Chinese stage

The Corona Virus traveled the entire world from Wuhan, China, but it did not reach Beijing and Shanghai ??
 Can anybody explain that?
Forwarded as received...read it...Looks So Logical....
After all Chinese Stock Market didn't crash....American and European did …..Destroy other markets and be ready to capture them in every way.
How to dominate the world quickly?
 THE GREAT CHINESE STAGE
 1. Create a virus and the antidote.
 2. Spread the virus.
 3. A demonstration of efficiency, building hospitals in a few days. After all, you were already prepared, with the projects, ordering the equipment, hiring the labor, the water and sewage network, the prefabricated building materials and stocked in an impressive volume.
 4. Cause chaos in the world, starting with Europe.
 5. Quickly plaster the economy of dozens of countries.
 6. Stop production lines in factories in other countries.
 7. Cause stock markets to fall and buy companies at a bargain price.
 8. Quickly control the epidemic in your country. After all, you were already prepared.
 9. Lower the price of commodities, including the price of oil you buy on a large scale.
 10. Get back to producing quickly while the world is at a standstill. Buy what you negotiated cheaply in the crisis and sell more expensive what is lacking in countries that have paralyzed their industries.
PS:Please read the book by Chinese colonels Qiao Liang and Wang Xiangsui, from 1999, “Unrestricted Warfare: China’s master plan to destroy America”, on Amazon. It's all there.Worth pondering..
 Just Think about this...
How come Russia and North Korea are almost totally free of Covid-19? Because they are staunch allies of China. Not a single case reported from these 2 countries. On the other hand South Korea / United Kingdom / Italy / Spain and Asia are severely hit.
How come Wuhan is suddenly, almost overnight, free from the deadly virus? China will say that their drastic initial measures they took was very stern and Wuhan was locked down to contain the spread to other areas. China is surely using the Antidote of the virus.
Why Beijing was not hit? Why only Wuhan? Kind of interesting to ponder upon.. right? Well ..Wuhan is open for business now. America and all the above mentioned countries are devastated financially. Soon American economy will collapse as planned by China.
China knows it CANNOT defeat America militarily as USA is at present THE MOST POWERFUL country in the world. So use the virus...to cripple the economy and paralyze the nation and its Defense capabilities. What better way to try and topple Trump? Lately, President Trump was always telling of how GREAT the American economy was improving on all fronts. The only way to destroy his vision of MAKING AMERICA GREAT AGAIN is to create an economic havoc.Wuhan’s epidemic was a showcase.
At the peak of the virus epidemic. .. China's President Xi Jinping disappeared for 8 days and suddenly resurfaced. Then, he just wore a simple, ridiculous RM1 face-mask while walking the streets of the epicenter Wuhan and other effected areas. As President he should have been covered from head to toe.....but it was not the case. He was probably already injected to resist any harm from the virus....that means a cure was already in place before the virus was released.
Some may ask....Bill Gates already predicted the outbreak in 2015...so the Chinese agenda cannot be true. The answer is. ..YES...Bill Gates did predict. .but that prediction is based on a genuine virus outbreak. Now China is also telling that the virus was predicted well in advance. ....so that its agenda would play along well to match that prediction. China's vision is to control the World economy by buying up stocks now from countries facing the brink of severe ECONOMIC COLLAPSE. Later China will announce that their Medical Researchers have found a cure to destroy the virus. Now China will have other countries stocks in their arsenal and these countries will soon be slaves to their master...CHINA.Just Think about it ...The Doctor Who declared this virus was also silenced by the Chinese Authorities...

I just wanted to say "Thank You" to all members on this site. You guys are a wealth of information, but more important to me as a Canadian is your good wishes and interest when I post. It doesn't matter what country we are from because we share the same passion for hunting, guns, ammo, archery and the outdoors.

My second year joining my cousin in our local shotgun hunt next week. We have some great farm land/bush to hunt with (4) tags to fill buck or doe. The nice thing about the shotgun hunt is we can take either sex, as usual I will post results and pictures.
Last year I harvested three of the four tags we had, probably won't happen again....lol
I can only take Monday and Tuesday off due to work commitments so hope we tag out early...
