Around the Campfire (General Discussion) / Accuguard Stock Question
« on: May 21, 2019, 08:34:49 PM »
Does anyone have any experience dipping the stock for the Accuguard?  I had one dipped last year by a guy who does a lot of dipping. The dip didn’t come out great and he redipped it 7 times. Is there something about the material of this stock that would make dipping it more challenging?

Around the Campfire (General Discussion) / Hot barrel??
« on: July 18, 2018, 08:34:13 PM »
I have a 30-06 Accugard and granted it’s summer but after just 1-2 shots my barrel is really hot. I’ve never had a fluted barrel but I thought that was supposed to help. I was finally able to get MOA groups when cooling barrel after each shot for 15 mins (see pic)but shooting a group of three in a row is not happening. The groupings scatters to 2 inches at 100 as in the photo. Is this typical of this model?  I’m surprised

I hope it's ok to list for sale items on here. If not I apologize and I'll remove this:

I'm selling my talley lightweight one piece mounts for 1" tube, medium height. Black color. For the vanguard. I mounted my scope and decided I wanted a 30 mm. So I sold a brand new scope and have these rings that are now "used."  The screw threads have a little Blue lock tight on them still but they're fine.   $20 TYD.

Around the Campfire (General Discussion) / Question regarding ammo
« on: April 12, 2018, 08:24:43 AM »
I finally got my accugard out to shoot in my new scope and tested some rounds. The ones that grouped the best were the federal 165 boat tails and the regular old Remington core-lokt. This is a hunting gun and not a target gun so 300 yd and under. While they patterned in different sides of the bullseye, each had MOA groupings. Is there any reason I'm not considering by just shooting core-lokt for half the price?  Price isn't really a factor, but why would I choose federal. Is there anything I am not considering?  Thanks in advance!!

Whitetail Deer / New accuguard 30-06 ammo opinion
« on: January 30, 2018, 09:14:06 AM »
Looking at the weatherby FAQ it looks like they recommend Barnes vortex 168 or federal sierra game king boat tail 165. Does anyone have an opinion one way or the other. I'm trying to avoid spending a lot on various boxes of ammo and figured I could simplify the process by starting with the most preferred cartridge.

im looking for a great grouping hunting round to use on white tails 300 yd or less.

THis being my first SS rifle, do people typically use a SS or Silver mount as well even though the scope is black?  I know it won't matter and it's personal preference...but weatherby only has the silver in stock for the mediums...

Around the Campfire (General Discussion) / Need advice for scope mounts
« on: January 11, 2018, 10:37:44 AM »
I just ordered a accuguard in 30-06 and will need mounts and rings for the scope.  Should I go with a standard picatinny rail and rings, or get something different?

I'm looking to get the Accugard in 30-06.  I see on the weatherby website that the vanguards all say "series 2", which I understand means a few improvements.  My question is, are the newly made Accugards series 2 as well or are they still the same as they've always been.  Thanks for any help.

I'm buying a new rifle.

I'd like 30-06 or .308.

I def want stainless and comp stock.

I'm Comparing the accugard $1100.00 or the basic SS model. $800.00.

Can anyone tell me what's $300 better in the accugard since they're both sub Moa guarantee, have the same trigger, and are both SS barrels?

I want this to be my "everything" gun. My kids have grown and I'm handing down family heirloom so I'm gunless for next hunting season.

All comments welcome and appreciated!!  Thanks.
