Fifteen points or years plus is average for pretty much every state.  An option that is easier to get to hunt is Alberta. However the hunting conditions can be tougher there.

It will be interesting to see.   I love my now "old" Accumark.  A little weight off it would be a good thing.  I can't imagine how you could improve on a already great trigger though.

It's not the site. It's your computer.

Really?  Funny my computer is the same one I used on the old site and it worked just fine.  It's also the same one used on other forums without issue.  I also login with three different computers, all have the same issue. So perhaps you could be a little more specific before making such a statement.

Still having log in issues.  It takes several times for it to work.  Is there going to be a resolution to this?

Correct, generally no hunting means little game.  Between poachers, farmers poisoning and habit destruction wildlife doesn't stand much of a chance there.

Rigger,

Well actually the nickname was from when I was a kid and I guess I could add a run in I had with a very unhappy female Cougar while deer hunting several years back.  My oldest granddaughter is in her senior year at WSU so I guess I can count that too!

Thanks..... :)

..... all I can say is he got buck fever, and it was a really  close shot like you could have thrown the arrow like a spear and hit it.

Life's like that sometimes.  I guess that's why it's called hunting.

Like others a .257 wouldn't be my first choice that's why I also have a .300, but I sure wouldn't hesitate with a good bullet like a 100 grain TSX or 120 partition.  My problem is I also have a .350 rem mag that's very suited to western Washington's mid range shot opertunities.  Big thump in a small package.  I like it a lot.

Wbyfan,

I hate to admit it but I think more then a few of us likely had at least somewhat similar experiences.  When I grew up the biggest fear wasn't getting shot, it was what the penalty would be for getting caught!

I am sure all the major news media will soon issue apology for making sure everyone knew he was guilty before all facts were reported and a case was completed.

Yeah right.  LOL

There isn't a story now so they will soon find other stories to spin.

I gotta love at least one of the responses above. I guess if you don't personally want do it no one else should either.  Where I live that's how we lost some of our hunting and trapping rights.  Nothing like hunters preying on each other.

I especially liked that he wanted to go out and hunt them on foot regardless of the personal difficulties rather then being driven around until they spotted one.  Even the guide was taken by his outlook on life.

Why don't you give Weatherby a call I'm sure they can help you.

Well for me at least it started at a very young age.  I read lots of magazines and made the mistake of getting one of the Weatherby guides and all I could think of was buying one someday. Later when I was old enough to buy rifles I loved to look at them in the special case that displayed them at Chet Paulson's in Tacoma Washington.  I wish there were gunshops still around here that was as impressive as his store.  I still couldn't couldn't afford one then.

Later in life I finally bought a .300 Accumark that's become one of my all time favorite rifles. It's not my only Weatherby and I hope acquire more but this particular rifle has become a trusted friend.  There's just something about that big smooth action that really appeals to me.

I like the fact the Weatherby hasn't felt the need to back off from producing a quality product.  I don't mind paying for quality.  What I don't like is when people are willing to " buy American" when what they are buying has slowly slipped in quality and not deserving their former reputation.  I feel if any company can't deliver on what they promised they deserve to fade away, American or not.

Anybody happen to catch the latest episode of a wounded warrior hunt in New Mexico?  The hunter used the guides rifle which was a mark V and took a great elk with one shot.  The elk went straight down without a twitch.

Best part of the show however was the soldiers story he was one of the survivors of the Fort Hood shooting.  Pretty emotional episode, even the guide was pretty wrapped up in the moment.  Have to hand it to the producers of this show for airing it.
