Reloading / Re: Loads for .300 WBY with Speer Impact

Compare the data in the boxes to their 180 grain load data.Find the powders you do have and see how much they are listing for the 180 grain.Reduce down 3 grains and then work your way up to max.

Anyway I will work up some loads with the powder I have but here is some data from Speer manual #14 I have compare to what they give for their new bullets:
180gr. Grand Slam or Hot core with Reloder 19, max= 78.0gr.
165gr. Grand Slam or Hot core with Reloder 19, max= 80.0gr.
and for the 172gr. Impact with Reloder 19, max= 85.5gr. As you can see there is something different in the construction of their new bullet if you can go that high for the max load with that powder.

Check with the powder manufacturers.  :)
None has data for that bullets except Speer and these data are included in the bullet's boxes, that why I am asking if someone has other data or has reloaded with other powder that the one suggested by Speer.

Reloading / Loads for .300 WBY with Speer Impact

Hi Guys,

Looking for new loads for my .300 bee with 172gr. Speer Impact other than the one supply by Speer, because the only powder I have from their data is with IMR-4831 but I have a lot of IMR-7828SSC and RL-22 that is very good for the .300
that I will like to try.

Ammo / AMMO FOR .300

Hi,
Just got 2 boxes of 180 gr # H300180SP/17665 Spire Point, after some research I think these bullets could be Hornady Interlock Spire Point. What do you think about these bullets for moose hunting. I supposed if Weatherby load them in 180 gr. they should be adequate for mooses.

Reloading / Re: Reloader 33 powder

Not to sound like a jackass, but how do you know you won't get those velocities without having loaded and fired over the chrony?  For example, Barnes data is for a 24" barrel and I get right at book fps with 1.5 to 2.5 grains LESS powder with the TTSX with my 26" barrel .300 Wby.  IMR 4350 gives adequate velocities and the Accurate MagPro is the fastest load per the Barnes data.  Start low, work up, watch for pressure signs and trust your chrony.  If the velocities are too good to be true, you are probably overpressure.  Win LRM primers for bothe powders for me.

You are right. As I said I did not reload yet this caliber. I have on hand some RL22, IMR4350,  IMR4831 and 1/2 pound of MagPro, and Fed 215M primers. Here in Quebec it is difficult to get MagPro. Anyway I will try some loads  and let you know.

Thanks

I did not reload with these powders yet. I just received my LazerMark and  I was only trying to find the best combination powder vs speed and accuracy for reloading. In all my reloading books (Speer,Nosler,Barnes, Hornady, etc) they all list the top speed a lot less that what I got yesterday at the shooting range with my CED chrono and the Weatherby original cartridge I got from the buyer. These cartridges were very accurate even at those speeds, so I would like to find a similar reload. I know  Weatherby ( Norma)  has  special powder blend .

Reloading / Reloader 33 powder

Anyone  using the new magnum powder Reloader 33 ?.  I am looking for a powder that I could use to duplicated the FPS that I get from Weatherby ammo with 180grs, Partition. I tried with  IMR4350, and IMR7828 and I can't get close to those FPS. I have a  Mark V  LazerMark in .300 WBY.

Thanks

Rifles / Vanguard serie 1
« on: May 15, 2012, 04:28:27 PM »
Just received my  new in box Vanguard serie 1 in 25-06 with wood stock. Got it on special because my dealer did not have the serie 2 on hand. I liked to know what is the finish on that stock. It is a mat (satin) finish, could it be a varnish ,or some kind of oil.  What do you think.

Thank you
