Took me quite a few different kinds of ammo before I got Sub MOA with my 30-06.
The lighter bullets not good - 165 or 180 was good.

Barnes & the faster 'super' Hornady seem the best to my rifle.
Nosler not so good for me & I tried their factory loads as well as Winschester's custom loads.
Really surprised me at the variations of the different ammo.

Also, I did upgrade to the Timney Trigger & a Bell & Carlson Stock that I free floated.
The stock upgrade seemed to help me get under the 1 MOA
Never really could get a solid response about why Weatherby has the pressure point in all the Long Action rifles at the same place. Even if one caliber likes these points at a certain spot I can't believe all long action loads would be harmonically the same. My 30-06 isn't the same as a 300 WinMag.

California Pigs is what I got my Vanguard 30-06 for.

What scope are you using?

(I am using Leupold's recommendation of a 200 yard zero and getting used to using the reticle's markings for 300+.)

On my CZ 455 I have a Weaver 6-24 x42 AO which I really like.  Great from the bench & for the longer shots in the field (this rifle has interchangeable barrels & now has the 22mag installed).

My Marlin 795 has a Nikon 22 Rimfire which I found a lot of fun and with the reticle rings was getting pretty quick ranging from 50 to ~125 yards. For plinking & small game/varmints with a Semi-Auto I think this is a great setup.

Love my little BL-22 with Techsights Peep on the rear & a Lyman hooded front sight. A scope or a red-dot just didn't feel right on the little Browning lever gun to me.

(My 30-06 Weatherby has a Leupold Vx3 4-14.)

when I put one on my Vanguard I filed off material from the front edge of the Trigger's front edge to match the original's contour.

Been to a few ranges in the San Francisco area.

Chabot is my favorite, but due to close next year since the Park it is on has given in to the anti-Gun people. Great  setting, good people & nice layout. Love their sign "We yell because we care".
200 yard is only open 1 day a week.

Richmond is OK but a bit anal about their target frames and only allow a single 8.5"x11" target, which for me when shooting .22's is a drag (anywhere else I can put up 4 letter sized targets).
Have to be a full-fledged member to use the 200 yard lanes :(

Another in Petaluma is very 'casual' but has lanes out to 300 yards so I go there quite a bit with my Vanguard, 30-06. Stapling targets onto 6" of previous targets is kinda of a drag.
Always try & make sure the Range master sees me and knows when I'm going out to distant targets ;)

Nice looking rifle!

Get the serial number checked with Weatherby & repaired if needed.

It has been my limited experience that most Weatherbys are NOT Free Floated, but have 2 pressure points on the fore end of the stock.
When I put and new Bell & Carlson stock on my 30-06 Vanguard it also came with these pressure points which I ground off and found the rifle shoots a bit better.

I got the Talley Low for my Vanguard from Weatherby's web site. They work great had a Leupold 3x9x40 Rifleman & recently upgraded to a VX3i 4x14x42 without hardly having to re-zero.

Very jealous, wish I could shoot so good.

Took up shooting again after quite  few years and just a while ago broke into the sub MOA with 3 rounds inside 1.5" at 200 yards.

Looks nice to me.

If it was a calibre I was looking for I'd be on it.

Hmmm.Think I would go with the old tried and true 30-06.Ammo anywhere, cheap  and kill everything with good shot placement

Looking forward to the OP telling us what the outcome is after getting it back from Weatherby.

Did the scope get adjusted at all when going from 100 to 200 yards?

For my series 1 Vanguard, 30-06; Talley Low rings from Weatherby, mounted to Leupold 3x9 42mm.

Had to do a bit of adjustment to windage to get zereo, but basically no problems.

I have lockable metal Tool boxes for each caliber.
Padlocked and stored out of sight in another room from where the gun safe is.
Also some tools & cleaning items for each caliber, which makes it very easy to go to the range with all I need.
