I certainly would think one could afford good bore solvents if one could afford 15 firearms. Time spent cutting up patches sure cuts into other activities.

Every vote counts! Even twice or from the deceased in Illinois. All the votes for Ross Perot put Billy Bob in the White House, so consider that before you vote for a third party candidate. No more Clinton or Bush for me.

Roger, that is a great buck of a lifetime for most of us. Sweet!

We are in deep doo if Clinton is elected. No honor, no integrity, no morals or scruples in addition to being a leftist Democrat. And those are her good points.

I think you'd have to shoot it like a mortar at that range! LOL!

I have no experience with VGs so I have nothing to offer on that account, but I do have a question. Why would you need to epoxy bed a Medalist stock that has a full length aluminum bedding insert? Does Weatherby do that to Accumarks with Medalist stocks? I was thinking about putting a B&C Medalist on my 7mm Wby Mark V which has the synthetic stock, but after reading this, maybe I should leave well enough alone.

Put a strip of black electrical tape over the area affected when hunting or shooting. Remove for storage.

Ok, Nation
Who has already planned their 2015 hunting trips? Since draw application deadlies have either passed or looming, I just wondered what trips the faithful have planned this year. I'm doing pretty much the same old same old NW Colorado mule deer (if drawn) and elk hunt as the last 11 seasons with our same group of hombres but adding a week of late season deer hunting in NE Washington State and maybe Montana if there are leftover licenses since I did not apply. How about y'all?

Amen, Dubyam !

JK,
Good points. The only 7mm I have is a Mark V 7mm Wby Mag. Those way over bore uber-magnums have no appeal to me, but I understand why they would to some folks.  I handload 150 gr TTSX to 3,180 fps which seems to be the sweet spot for my 24" barrel. It is always possible to build a cartridge a few fps faster, but at what price of barrel life, blast, recoil, accuracy, or economy? I don't fault others for wanting the latest whiz bang outfit. One man's wants is not necessarily a "need" for me. If I feel led to more punch, I take my .300 Roy.
Cheers

Most of the hype surrounding the 28 Nosler is just that. I have always viewed Nosler's data, including BC of bullets, with some suspicion since I have never experienced the velocities they claim from ammo purchased from them and following their load data. Bah humbug.

Physics and internal ballistics realities seldom come into play with marketing types and some writers. If you want to believe that any .270 Winchester load at safe pressures is really close to full-house .270 Wby or 7mm Wby loads with comparable bullets, just keep on believing it. A chronograph will give you a big dose of mean old Mr. Reality. Not saying the .270 Win is not a great cartridge, it is just not that close to a .270 Wby.

I don't usually shoot Ballistic Tips, but when I do, it is at paper or varmints. Stay thirsty my friends.

After surviving one rotor strike crash and an autorotation hard landing way out in injun country, if I never get on another one it will be too soon!

Well, the Vanguard is better than 90% of the production rifles out there for the money, so no argument there. In my opinion, the only production rifles that come close to a Mark V are the Sako 75 and 85 models and the variants.
