A friend of mine put a 7mm Wby Mag into the elk I had already hit twice. He was just standing there staggering before going down. I was unimpressed by the Hornady SP as it came apart and was in little pieces. It also did not penetrate through like the 2 Trophy Bonded Bear Claw's I shot did. I think those Weatherby Hornady loads are ok for deer, but I think a sturdy bonded core bullet is a must for elk at Weatherby mag velocities.
