I didn't see the post about the S2 with the melted stock, do you have a link to it?  If this is the new level of quality coming from Weatherby I'd say the value of the old ones is definitely going to go up and it's time to start buying as many as you can.

Danno50 you're right, if people knew the magazine rattles that bad and it was made that way they wouldn't have sold any of those rifles especially at that price.  To design a magazine for a hunting rifle like that is totally stupid, there's no other way to say it.  Heck a magazine on an AK doesn't rattle that bad and they're made to be used and abused.  The other thing that's for sure is Roy and Ed wouldn't have left such a terrible design be put on a rifle that has their name on it.  Ultimately this terrible design decision falls on Adam's desk because he's the boss and should've known these magazines rattle like that and let it be put on a rifle that bears his family's name.  Weatherby was always know as the epitome of quality, the Rolls-Royce of firearms, but the quality on that is non-existent.  The only way to make that right is to take off the magazine assembly, throw it in the garbage, and put a trigger guard and floor plate on it.

As much as I love buying a brand new gun sadly I'm with you in that I'll be looking for gently used rifles since I can't get what I want.  I never thought in a million years it'd come to this with Weatherby but unfortunately that seems to be the case.

I think they have to make a blued version because bluing and Python go together like peanut butter and jelly.   Two other reasons I think they're going to make one is because the one in the picture on their webpage is blued and their marketing director say other versions are coming.

I'm old school in lots of ways, it's the way I was raised and am happy and proud of that fact.  Those old timers didn't forgive and forget, they remembered and remembered for their entire lives.  They didn't have hurt feeling and weren't offended by crap and thank God for that.  When there was a problem they got off their asses and solved it.  When they named that generation the Greatest Generation they hit the nail right on the head.  Imagine what the world would be like if these candy asses had to fight World War 1 or 2, they'd be sitting in a corner sucking their thumbs and crying for their Mommies.  President Trump has the same logic, you screw with us we're going to do something about it.  I love the fact that he told Iran if you retaliate we have 52 targets picked out, one for every hostage taken back in 1979, and will destroy them.  Obviously he's also old school and like President Regan.  Back in President Regan's day we didn't have the crap going on then that we do today.  The problem today is kids are being brainwashed by Commie teachers, Democrats are power hungry and want to control everything we say, do, and think, and the news media is nothing more than a puppet to the Democrats.  These idiots want to take our gun and think we're just going to give them up and all the police are going to go door to door to collect them but there's one problem, it's not going to happen.  I commend President Trump for doing the right thing in killing a bad guy who wants to destroy us and doing his best to keep our nation and citizens safe.

You guys are right, the Democrats hate the fact that we elected President Trump they're blinded by their rage.  Ever since we elected him they've been on a mission to get him out of office and impede and undermine everything he does and tries to do.  I hope and pray that they loose big time in the upcoming election.  Beyond that if you think they're loosing their minds now just wait and see what they do and say when we reelect him.

I'm willing to bet the guy who came up with the saying, "Life's too short to hunt with an ugly rifle" came up with it because of the elpastic stocked rifles.

I use RCBS collet puller. Had it for about 40 years. Works great no effort reuse bullet.

Personally this is the one I like best and the best part is there's minimal damage to the bullet when you use it.

Sorry for your loss and I commend you for watching out for her but I'm not surprised in the least you did because you're a good guy and that's your way.  I bet that Preacher thought he was going to meet God the day you confronted him and he learned a good lesson for sure.

So what's wrong with making both and having both sets of customers happy?  I might not be the owner of a Fortune 500 company but I'm smart enough to know the more customers you have the more you're going to sell and ultimately the more money you'll make the longer your company is going to flourish and remain in business.  It's not anyone's fault that the new age gun owners want plastic stocks but there is fault to be had in pushing customers away by not making stuff they want.  Yes they can paint a plastic stock to look like AAA Carlo walnut or any other wood for that matter, they've been doing it for years with fiberglass doors but at the end of the day it's still a plastic stock with a paint job not real wood.  It'd be nice and logical to have the option to get different model wood stocks as an option even if it was through the Custom Shop.  I'm sure us old timers wouldn't have any problem having their gun store call Weatherby and say hey I have a guy here who wants a EuroMark in .270 Weatherby Magnum or a LazerMark in .416 Weatherby Magnum as long as the price doesn't jump up significantly.  Yeah an extra $200 or $300 would be reasonable but considering the price of these plastic stock models I can't see the option for the wood stocks being much higher than the $200 or $300 I mentioned.  The reason I say and think that is because they make the Deluxe and several models with matte finishes and even stainless steel rifles so it'd pretty much be a case of putting the different wood stock on the barreled action they have in stock.

As Bret has stated, in this new plastic age of firearms, other than the high cost of Quality, there will be nothing to distinguish Weatherby from any other mfg.
There are thousands of shooters/hunters/ collectors that still imagine owning a beautiful wood stocked rifle that stands as a testament to the vintage rifles of an era past, full of history, imagination, and the pride that lifts a persons spirit every time the rifle is looked at. It's a Tragedy.

I couldn't have said it any better.  When it comes to wood stocks you can have a million and there isn't two the same, each has it's own beauty and character.  You can't say that with the plastic stocks, if you have a million of them you have a million that are the same.

Sadly I'm not surprised, it seems like the plan is to get rid of all the stuff that made the company what it is and the long time customers like and push the stuff that might appeal the the new customers.    >:( :( :-[ :-\ :'(

That's a beautiful rifle, what a Weatherby should look like.  There's no such thing as a rifle that's too beautiful to shoot or hunt with, use it don't abuse it and it'll be pretty forever.

I've never used Boretech but I have heard lots of good stuff about it.  I've been using Sweets762 and Montana Extreme for years and don't have any complaints however I'd strongly advise against trying to smell it to see what it smells like.  I will say it'll definitely clean out your sinuses no matter how clogged they are.

Thank you for sharing that.  The best part of that article for me was when they asked if we can wait for a blue one, my answer to that is probably not but that just give me a reason to have two.
