Brett I agree with you completely.  Growing up I looked at the Weatherby catalogs so much my eyes wore the ink off the pages.  Those rifles with the beautiful wood stock and deep dark mirror like bluing was the epitome of what a beautiful rifle was and what all others wish they were.  You could spot a Weatherby a mile away in a rack of a thousand rifles, they jumped out and almost screamed I'm a Weatherby.  Countless people dreamed of owning a Weatherby and scrimped and saved to be able to buy them.  Now the ones with the elplastic stocks just fade into the crowd of other rifles and don't have the wow and factor and grab your attention that the wood stocked ones do.  It's heart breaking and a shame that there's only two options for owning a new wood stocked Weatherby.  I could only imagine what Roy would think about that.  Sadly the only other option is to buy a used one when you can find what you want but unfortunately doing that doesn't have the full wow factor that a brand new rifle does.  Yeah it's a pretty sad day.

I've been searching high and low to get my paws on one but so far I'm striking out.  There are a few on Gunbroker and the prices are shooting up fast with the bidding wars to be one of the first guys to get one.  Once they start coming out in a steady stream I think the price will level out like it did with the Cobra and King Cobra.  As for it affecting the prices of the originals that can go either way.  I'm sure there's a bunch of people out there who refuse to pay the high prices for an original when they can get one of these cheaper but there's also the die hards who won't accept the new one and the only Python in their opinion is the originals.  Seeing how that plays out is going to be interesting and I'm certainly not ruling out also buying an original with the royal blue finish providing the price is right.

Well that sucks big time.  All this damn computer crap is for the birds just like the elplastic stock.  What about the guys who like the classic stuff, to actually look at a catalog and a gun with wood stocks and nice bluing.  Pathetic.  I saw the announcement about no printed catalogs last year on their webpage, it wasn't on here at least not that I remember.

I know it's hard to believe but there are people who aren't online and don't even own computers such as my Dad.  He absolutely refuses to have anything to do with a computer and I'm sure he's not the only one out there like that.  We also collect all their catalogs and catalogs from other gun companies.

I distinctly remember the announcement that said due to the move there won't be a printed catalog for 2019 but they'll be back in 2020, just saying.  Grouchy you're probably right.

I don't know but have been looking to order one.  Last year they said they didn't make one because of the move but they'd be back this year.  I'm with you in hoping they make it again.

The trigger group on the new Pythons is brand new and has fourteen less parts.  Also if you watch the video from the Marketing Director he said they know it's going to be judged by the trigger pull and they made sure people will be happy with it.  Beyond that there's always going to be the whiners that cry it's not the same and whatever else they can thing of to cry about.  Most of them wouldn't buy it even if you gave them the money for it so I don't even bother listening to them.  One of the biggest things for people to realize and accept is just like the Cobra and King Cobra it's NOT the same revolver from years ago, it's been redesigned.  I'm willing to bet Colt is fully aware of the short comings of the trigger system and the tendency for the old Pythons to jump out of time and addressed that issue fully.  Just like the Cobra and King Cobra they have only one shot to get it right and I'm sure they took their time and made sure they did.  The big question I have is on Colt's webpage they have a picture of a blued Python and at least for now they only are offering it in stainless steel.  I messaged Colt and asked if a blued version is going to be coming but I didn't get an answer.  My guess is they will definitely make a blued version because the royal blue finish and the Python go together just like peanut butter and jelly.

It's OFFICIAL, I just saw Colt announced and updated their website saying it's TRUE, the Python is back.  From the video I saw it looks like it's a definite winner and the price isn't bad, $1,499.  The one thing I did notice on their website is they only have a stainless steel version offered for sale but the picture on the top of the page shows a blued Python.  I don't know when the blued version is going to be available but I do know as soon as it is I'm buying one.

Here's a link to Colt's page for the page for the Pythons:
